A couple weeks back, Flagstaff had it's little "let's chain ourselves in the streets and block traffic" antiwar protest deal with some arrests. Well, today, the good citizens of Flagstaff spoke up and said: WE SUPPORT OUR TROOPS AND OUR COUNTRY!!! There was a rally today at a park downtown that drew hundreds, if not a thousand. All kinds of folks there: VFW, Marine Corps League, American Legion, bikers, cowboys, NRA members, all kinds of patriots. Everyone had a flag. The governor came to speak as well as Flagstaff's mayor. The mayor gave a great speech but some of the best were from the MCL, VFW and AL guys there, as well as the wife of a deployed soldier. They played the National Anthem twice and I'd be lying if I said my eyes didn't get misty. What a contrast to a couple weeks ago when some anti-war clowns blocked the road (including one idiot that chained his neck to a sewer grate---it looked as if he was swirling down the appropriate portal for him, too.) No arrests, no road blocking. Isn't it funny how all these "peace lovers" cause trouble and get arrested but REAL Americans don't? That's because REAL Americans don't throw temper tantrums in the middle of the road when they don't get their way.
It was great to see and be there. There were some peaceniks (all 12 of them) , but the police didn't let them approach the rally. Lots of Harleys with the American flag waving circling the block cheering. Some Dine (Navajo) vets doing war cries and whoops. All us guys dragged out our old BDUs or other uniforms out of the closet for the event. It was great!
One of the female MIAs is a Hopi woman from Tuba City, which is on the Rez not far from here. Lots of folks came to show their support and prayers for her and her family.
USA ALL THE WAY!!!!!!
