Tactical Sling?

I am constantly seeing U.S. soldiers on TV over in Iraq and Afghanistan with some neat looking slings. They seem to hold the rifle close to their chest very close to a firing position. Is this just a way to use the standard shoulder sling or is it some kind of different tactical sling?

Run some searches for 3 point slings. CQB solutions is one of the companies that make then.

They're nice because if they are adjusted correctly, you can simply let go and the rifle/shotgun will just drop to your side. On the reverse you can just pick up the rifle/shotgun and push up, if the sling is adjusted correctly it will come straight up to your shoulder. There's also a punch out strap if you manage to snag on something.

Hope that helps.
