Guns can dirrectly affect the course of your life. I used to live in California and really wanted an AR-15 and a CCW but couldnt have them. I moved out of state and now have both. But along the way my life improved vastly. I got a great job now and am making much more money. I've met ton of new people aswell and go shooting all the time. I moved to a place that allows pets and now I have a new best freind. And to think all this is due to my wanting a little black rifle? Years ago I thought I'd try a single action revolver and had no idea the effect it had on me. Now I've read a ton of books on the subject, learned all about reloading, own several sixguns, and wear a cowboy hat. All because I thought I'd try a Blackhawk one day? A freind of mine bought a deer rifle at a gun show one day for a great price though he wasnt a hunter. The next season we both had tags and sat at the campfire dressed in all camo talking about how scopes work with about ten nice people we met. All because he found a rifle at a good price? So when you want that next gun, know that you will have to pay for it, which will probably involve some overtime at work, shoot it alot improving your skills, learn its history and mechanics, and form a solid opinion of it you can share with others about it. We know these things happen and thats why we want more guns because we want more out of life.

here's my true story:

2 weeks ago some female friends (i'm a guy) that i met in the beginning of my semester this year mentioned they were not sure of my sexuality and thought i was gay.

although i'm very secured with my heterosexuality, i wanted to pick up a 'manly' hobby.

next day i go to a gun shop for the first time of my life and never had shot a gun in my life.

i sign up for the ccw course and take it two days later

i shoot a 9mm at the class and fall in love with shooting

48 hours later i purchase a glock 17 and beretta 92D simultaneously, the next day i purchase a romanian ak-47 WASR10....though i already have plans to trade my G17 for a G27 or similar sized Sig once my cwl arrives

that was early last week

tomorrow (tuesday) i'll be picking up my beretta and glock after having waited the 5 day period

i can't sleep and my appetite is severely effected.

all i think about is guns now, guns guns guns!!

instead of porn sites, i visit gun forums like these and try to learn as much as i can about firearms.

i have visited 4 different local gun shops, mainly just to stare at their beretta 92's and ask to see it, and two of those gun shops know me by name.

i have purchased 100 rounds of 9mm and 40 rounds of 7.62x39, and i look at my bullets every night before going to sleep...i also bought eye and ear protection

i'm already in the market for revolvers, .22 rifles, and a .357 mag --and i don't even have my first gun yet!

is there a Guns Anonymous program??? :(

LOL this is true, i was enthralled with my .40 sw hydrashoks, didnt want to shoot them. finally just to test my carry ammo, i popped them into a watermelon, a large zuccini, and a musk melon. wow! my and my son shot a smaller watermelon full of holes with FMJ 9mm, left all kinds of holes, the hydrashocks obliterated the veggies.. now i wish i could shoot hydrashoks all the time.

I got a used Marlin 880SS at a local store for $150. I have not looked back since.

/BTW, got my "Swiss Miss" today. She needs a little TLC before going to the range. Gona give the lady some special treatment.

Man, I don't know about you guys, but I need absolutly no justification for more guns. I often start each day by sitting straight up in bed, declaring MORE GUNS! in a firm voice, and then I hug each of my current guns.

The 6 inch S&W M29 is OK for a house gun but I really need the 6-1/2 inch with its longer sight radius for hunting.

The 357 B&D is more compact than the 357 SuperMag.

The 12 Gauge pump is for ducks since I don't want to risk getting the double wet.

The Ruger P89 is for all those handloads that don't work in the other 9 mm.

The Ruger P89X is for testing handloads for the 7.65 mm Luger.

The Luger will appreciate in value, it's really an investment.

The Buckmark is for high speed 22's, don't want to run them through the S&W M41 with its soft recoil spring.

Got the S&W M57 too cheap to turn down.

The Winchester M1894 in 32 Special is a family heirloom, but I really need the one in 30-30 to be practical.

The double barreled muzzleloader is for deer, but the single barreled muzzle loader was to chaep to pass up.

Need the Ruger Old Army to go along with the muzzle loading rifle.

The muzzle loading Colt relica was too cheap to pass up.

The Rogers & Spencer replica was too cheap to pass up.

The 28 gauge double is a family heirloom but I need a modern one to take modern loads.

The 22 revolver is to take along on pheasant hunts. The 12 gauge tears up the rabbits too much.

Everybody should have a 22 rifle.

I need the 375 H&H to carry a scope, the other one has iron sights.

Everybody should have a 45.

The 10 mm is for wild pigs.

Need a 32 carry gun for summer and a 40 S&W for winter carry.

Need a 38 for target shooting.

The 223 is for coyotes.

The CZ52 was too cheap to pass up.

Need a compact 9 mm for spring and fall carry.

The Nagent is a piece of history, besides it was too cheap to pass up.

Need the 458 for hunting in thick brush.

The 16 gauge pump was too cheap to pass up.

A 357 Mag is a good all around caliber.

etc.

It's amazing how I can use any event as an excuse to buy guns! My dad died two years ago and left me his guns. I got a M1 that he used in WWII, his .22 rifle that he got as a kid and recently had restored, another very old .22, perhaps his dad's gun. I got a .32 auto, an old police .38, and a Glock 17.

I had absolutely hated Glocks. After feeling that 17 for a few days, I went out and bought a Glock 36 (.45). Then I decided that I ought to get a .40 since I've never had one. I bought a Glock 23 for my main waist carry, and a 27 for back-up. Then I realized that I needed my first 10mm, so I bought a Glock 20. Then, why not the 30 in .45?

I ordered all of them with night sights and still caress them all at night! Seeing those green "eyes" glowing at me is a very comforting feeling. Then I realized that I needed something to go on the rails of the railed Glocks. So, I bought a Streamlight M6-X for the 10mm to use as my house gun. I loved it so much that I wanted a laser for the 36 and 27 which don't have rails. I outfitted them with Lasermax internal lasers.

Then I realized that trying to quickly mount the Streamlight would be too slow in a self-defense situation and I wasn't keen on holsters that allow you to carry with light attached. So, I outfitted the 23 and 30 rail Glock's with Lasermax units. Next was Fobus holsters and magazine holders for all guns, along with some ankle holsters, shoulder holsters, fanny pack, book holster, Thunderwear holsters, concealed carry clothing, etc, etc.

All because of a free Glock! My inheritance still isn't all gone so I obviously need more guns, right??

When I buy (yet another) gun and my wife asks me what I need it for, I can't ever figure out what in the heck that has to do with it. :scrutiny:

You don't have too many guns until you start planning a 31-30 wildcat to plug the performance gap between your 30-30 and your 32 Special.

A very interesting perspective, timothy75. I've thought about cause and effect on smaller scales concerning firearms but never on the big picture. Interesting.

you would rather look a guns than porn?
You're just fine and it's perfectly normal.

Now once you start shooting other things will begin to happen to your mind. Then you might be in very bad trouble.

My wife says this to me all the time: "Do you really want that or are you buying it just because it's a good deal?" That works on my subconscious about .0001% of the time. The other 99.9999% of the time I REALLY want it! :D
I bought a Sig, then after shooting it I decided I needed one of every model they make (still working on that). In 1911's I want one of every size and caliber available, etc. You can never have too many mags or too much ammo for each gun and on and on and on. The UPS guy has 20" biceps thanks to all the ammo deliveries at your house.
You'll work overtime, move to another state, send your kid door to door with the lawn mower etc. It's like crack for the good guys.

Excuse me while I go against the grain here.......

The next time that you have 200-400 dollars burning a hole in your pocket don't go out and buy your 11th pistol or rifle. Instead sign up for a quality class in shooting and/or tactics like those offered by Tactical Response, Suarez International, or Shivworks. Guns are great and beleive me I have plenty, but after you complete that first class it is going t be like when you got your first gun all over again.
