Somewhere - on some forum not too long ago - somewhere in the immenseness of cyberspace - I responded to a thread dealing with 625's, moonclips etc and referred to my (then misappropriated) home made demooner. My intention was on finding it to post a useful pic to show it - but can I remember what forum, what thread? Can I heck!
It has now turned up and I have taken a pic to show it - simple thing that it is. To cover bases therefore, I am offering this very simple-to-make tool for those who may yet wish to make their own. It just so happens that this tube size is large enough internally to let cases or rounds slide thru and out the end - a further rather useful feature.

What's a good source for the SS tube?

Actually should have said - S/S is not essential - this is one of those deals where about anything will do, even mild steel. Just happens I had some S/S on the shelf.
I am an old semi retired engineer and have a bin full of odd bits - and that was what I used.
In fact some folks use a piece of 1/2" copper water pipe - as long as it goes over the case or round - it should be good to go - bit more space internally should mean stuff falls right on thru.
Main thing is - cut the end as shown - then it's a cinch. I expect steel will be more forgiving of long term useage, that's all.

After seeing Chris' (or maybe Ray's old age is getting me too) in action. I ended up making mine out of copper pipe. Cheap, quick to make, and works great!

I have heard of people making them out of PVC as well. Alot of strength is really not needed.

I made the PVC one first, but realized that when using it for demooning, I had to pull each case out of it...too time consuming. So, I made a larger one out of the copper tubing (only because I had it) so that as I twist a case off the moon clip, it drops into the handle. I have the bottom corked so all I have to do is turn it upside down to empty the 6 cases. I now use the PVC as my mooner to load my moon clips.
I bought one very similar to P95Carry's design at the old Second Chance Bowling Pin Shoot in the 1990s.
It was blue-black steel with knurling on the middle of the pipe for a good grip. It cost me $5 if I recall correctly. Still working as well as ever. Never saw any need for anything fancier.
I sometimes just hold my hand over the end of the pipe to catch the brass inside. Other times I just demoon the clips over the box I want fired brass in and let the fall in as they come loose.
