Last night I went out to the Santa Maria Gun Club and shot trap for the first time. I have to say that it was the most fun I have ever had with a gun. It was great. This was the only shooting event I have ever been to where men, women and children were all having a good time. Now I am hooked.

So, what would you guys recomend for a starting gun for trap. Last night I shot my freinds 1100. It worked very well. Right now I can't afford an 1100 so I am thinking of something more reasonable. I have a Vang-Comp Mossberg 590-a1 that I keep for HD. So I am most familliar with that style shot gun. I would appreciate any suggesations. Thanks Juan.

I think you'll find that your mossy is not choked nearly enough for skeet...you will have a thoroughly disappointing time with it. I recommend you go to your nearest wal-mart and plunk down about 200 bones on a Remington 870 express. You'll never wear it out and the accuracy will surprise you.

OR you could simply buy a new barrel from mossberg for your 590 if available...However going this route MAY save you only a 100 or so. Follow this link.

Sounds like a Mossberg 500 with a 26" - 28" barrel should do the trick.

Mossberg 500 with 28" barrel and three choke tubes $260
Mossberg 500 with 28" barrel, three choke tubes and 24" rifled barrel with scope mount $270 http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=3163666
Probably find them in the store cheaper.

Hmm..... $10 bucks for a extra barrel.........

Thanks for all the help and suggestions guys. I just ordered a Mossberg 500 all purpose field model with the wood stock. I am paying $230 for the Shoty. I do not have the availability of buying guns at wall mart since I live in California and walmart has stopped selling guns out of all of their California stores. I do not really need the 18" barrel anyways as I have my 590a1 for HD. Again thanks for the suggestions.
