Beretta PB Mod 70... or is it?

OK, I'll admit it - this one has got me stumped:

http://www.deactivated-guns.co.uk/detail/PB.htm

It says that it's a deactivated Beretta PB Mod 70, only it doesn't look like any Beretta 70 that I've ever seen. What on earth is it?
Notice how the hammer looks like it came off a WW2-era Hi-Power? FN Herstal and Beretta have been quite closely linked in the past, so maybe this was some sort of prototype for the Beretta 81/84 series, using FN parts? Notice also the old-school safety lever that looks like it came off a M1934 or M1931. And the re-curved trigger-guard from an M85F...

I can't see it in any of the Beretta websites that I visited, either. Ideas, anyone?

That is certainly not a Beretta Series 70.

FWIW, I think it is a dummy gun (not a deactivated real gun), perhaps made up from some real gun parts, although it looks better than most of them. I note the slide says "P.B.", not Beretta, thus avoiding problems with trademark infringement. (The "P", BTW, stands for Pietro, not Paul.)

I think it safe to say that if the folks who turn out some of the dummy guns sold here for $30 or so can sell them for 250 pounds in the UK, you will see more than one "gun that never was."
