Okay, I would really like a small .357Sig pistol, and the Steyr S-series seems to fit the bill. S40 models do exist, but S357?

Is there a place where I can get (even aftermarket like Bar-Sto) .357 barrels for the S40??

Thanks!

Originally Steyr planned a S357 but I don't know if they actually produced it. Maybe you could find one of the .357 sig barrels if they exist.

It might also be possible to get an M357 barrell and cut it down.

I do know that Steyr has stated that the S series will only be sold in 9mm and .40S&W now.

if you go to www.cdnninvestments.com
and download thier catalog, you will find thye are selling the 357 sigs you are looking for. its a big download 12mbs so it will take a while unless you have high speed cable. the guns are 369 plus shipping and your ffl transfer fee . Im guessing about 400 or so when all is said and done

michiganfan,
I am pretty sure those are the M357s instead of the mystical S357.

I believe that you are correct it is the m series instead of the s series my apologies.

CDNN catalog...what do you think gave me the idea?? :D

My logic goes like this - I like .357Sig for carry (who doesn't), and I also like SMALL GUN for carry. The only small guns chambered for this round is Glock 33, Sig Sauer P239, and Steyr S357 (not to be)...

I did a search in the The Firing Line and found a thread that said Steyr does not want people shooting .357 Sig in the S series guns, so no .357 Sig barrels!

I have too many Glocks - nothing wrong with them (to me) but I want something different.

P239 is okay...I may go for that one.

The Steyr S357 would have been SWEET!!! Alas...

I'd like to know if the only difference between the M and S series barrels is the length.

I think there's a couple of guys out there with both M and S pistols ... maybe one of them could try putting his M barrel in his S.

I still think if you got an M357 barrel, cut a little off the muzzle end and stuff it in an S40 that would give you what you want.

Yeah, makes sense to me...I'd rather have a S357 than a P239. The P239 is fine, but the Steyr would really be different, and both the gun and the cartridge would be innovative and new...

According to www.steyr-mannlicher.com:

M series: 102mm barrel, or 4"
S series: 91mm, or 3.6"

Seems like you would want to run +P carry ammo in an S9 to get good velocity...not sure what that short of a barrel would do to .40 ballistics/power

Edit: an S357, if produced, would also carry 10+1 rounds instead of the 7+1 in the SIG.
