Interesting find

Saw an interesting S&W the other day. Looked like an early model 22/32 built as a target pistol. 7 or 8 inch barrel, adjustable sights, an un-countersunk cylinder, and an odd type of grip that sits the gun at a more horizontal angle. I haven't been able to find anything on it. I don't need another .22, but this one just seems too "one-off" to pass up.

You mean the I-frame .22/32 Beckeart Model?
Barrel should be 6".
The first batch was made in 1911. Yours was made before 1935.
There are several variations.
We can tell more with the serial number which is located on the grip forestrap.

Thanks, Blue. I'll try to check the serial number next time I look at it. What's a nominal value on these if you know? The asking price is less then a lot of K-17s that I see advertised, and it's in what I'd say was around 80-90% condition.

it's in what I'd say was around 80-90% conditionThat a wide path.
My semi-uneducated quess would be from $350-$750.
And some variations could be worth more.
Of course this is based on it being genuine.

Thanks, guy. I haven't had a chance to get back and look at it again, yet. I may just pick it up to have a .22 revolver in the safe again. :)
