Where can I get a wood stock at for the standard model? I see Tapco has the CLAW Mount so I plan on getting that pretty soon. What about cheap magazines? Will the Cetme and G3 mags fit the PTR? How about any other goodies? :D

Thanks

G3 mags will fit the PTR91. I don't know if CETME mags will.

The PTR-91 is a semi-auto version of the G3 battle rifle, as was the H&K 91. Generally, CETME and G3 products are NOT interchangeable. There are slight differences in dimensions and specs. Most aftermarket accessories are designed and labelled for one or the other, and those that will fit both often say that.

The claw mount is one of the things that WILL fit on both a CETME and a G3/91. A CETME buttstock will NOT fit a G3/91 without modification.

Your choices for furniture are generally black or green plastic, though there are a very few old (1950s vintage) wood furniture sets that pop up now and then. There are two different forearm types -- the narrow vented version and the wide "beavertail" type. The wood sets all use the narrow version. The wide versions are in black or green plastic only, are harder to find and are more expensive, but they are equipped for the HK folding bipod. In the palstic sets, black ones generally cost more than green. I put a black wide firearm and bipod on my PTR-91.

In buttstocks, your choices in the surplus market are the old wood (if you can find them), black or green plastic, or the collapsible (telescoping) version. If you have a lot of money to burn, you can also occasionally find an adjustable buttstock originally designed for the MSG90 or PSG-1 sniper versions of the G3 (expect to pay $500 to $1,000, though). I have seen aftermarket wood handgrips for the G3/91.

The latest options on the market are "tactical" forearms with built in rails. JLD Enterprises sells them directly on its website. They're expensive, and I personally don't have a use for them.

The Tapco claw mount works well. I recommend buying it packaged with the STANAG-to-picatinny adapter, though. Otherwise, you'll be limited to using STANAG-compatible scopes. I have the picatinny adapter on my claw mount, and a Burris 4-16x44 scope mounted on it.

Standard surplus G3 mags work great with the PTR-91. Expect to pay between $1 and $2 each for the aluminum ones. Steel ones cost more ($6-10), though I don't know why. The aluminum mags work great for me, don't rust, and weigh less.

My favorite accessory for the PTR-91 is the Tac-Latch. It's a paddle style mag release that is easy to install without permanent mods, and makes mag changes much quicker and easier.

You should also get a sight adjustment tool. Note that the CETME sight adjustment tool WILL NOT FIT the G3/91 sight. You need a G3/91 tool. JLD Enterprises sells a very nice one.
