In response to the African carry thread, http://www.skunkabilly.com/media/american_african.wmv
Tech stuff--if no workey:
1. DL Windows Media Player 9
2. Let it do its thing and download the codec (if prompted)
3. Open the file again.
American carry starts with right paw on sling. African starts with left paw on handguard; that's the way I was taught at gunskul. The Skunk prefers African because it won't scratch my carbon fiber grips.

Nice video.
What are you gonna do about all that untactical sling noise?

What about the 'hood carry?' That's where ya tilt the gun 90 degrees to the left and hold it above your eye level pointing down. You sight along the left side of the barrel. It's much like the pistol version of the 'hood carry' however with the pistol version you have to have the gun below the sight line and gold and/or chrome plating must be involved.
For the shotgun hood carry, one must NOT have a full butstock but since one cannot afford the real pistol grip, one must invest in a saw and a roll of duct tape. This hold is most effective when one utters the words, "Shut the [deleted] up or I'll busta cap in your [deleted]."
There's also the 'Arnold Carry' where one holds the shotgun at arms length. Of course, there is no slinged position in either of these presentations as, once again, you don't have a job, stole the shotgun, and cannot afford a sling.
In all seriousness, I rarely present anything but my hunting rifle. When that happens, I usually do it very carefully and slowly as I crouch and slowly look for a rest. I should really practice in case a bear wants to pick a fight.

Gee, I would've thought Skunk's room would be more "tactical" looking.

Skunk, you been puttin' on weight? ;)
Nice vid! You should also show how to properly sling the SG/long gun into American or African carry for the sake of safety.

To play .wmv files created with 'Windows Media Encoder 9' on a Mac, you'd have to convert the Windows Media File (.wmv) to an .avi so that Quicktime can support it, then you can export it to .mov format with Quicktime Pro.
But to avoid all that hassle, Skunk should encode his videos so that they are compatible with both MS and Apple platforms.

Well, I still can't get a picture, but I can hear the music, and it sounds familiar:
"This is Tom Bodett for Motel Skunk. We'll leave the Surefire light on for ya."

I was impressed with the speed of the American carry, I can't do it that fast. I really like African carry myself. I liked the vid though.

Way to go Skunk.
I was taught to perform the American and African carry nearly the same way. The only difference is that I bring the weapon nearly towards eye level in African carry. Minor difference, but other than that the same way.
