I just bought a 12 ga. converted to 45-70. Went to the range and tested it. The right barrel was good, but the left shot high. Is that supposed to happen? If not am what can I do or have done about it? Any help would be appreciated.

A real double rifle has the barrels "regulated" to shoot together at a normal range for the caliber. It is not an easy process involving testfiring, separating, resoldering, reshooting, and readjusting by trial and error until it is right . It may have been beyond the ability of whoever converted that shotgun or beyond the budget of his original customer. There are a very few gunsmiths who will undertake to re-regulate a double. It won't be cheap. Look in The Double Gun Journal to see if somebody is mentioned or advertised. Sorry 'bout that.

Poor man's option would be to develop a load for the left barrel that would hit at point of aim. Mark those rounds to differentiate from right barrel rounds..
