I'm buying body armor for my company, the sales rep is saying their ammo stops 9mm PP41 Raug and 7.62 x 54R "green spot". All the other specs I understand but I just can't google anything on these two specs. Can somebody here tell me what this ammo is?

I think they mean 7.62x25 Tokarev, which, while way hotter than the 9mm Para, is nowhere near the power of the 7.62x54R, which is a round still currently in use in Russia (114 years and going strong!), in SVD sniper rifles and the PMK GPMG.

You are safe from 9mm SMG's and pistols, PPSh, PPS, and PPD SMG's, and the Tokarev and CZ-52 pistols.

Sounds like old Soviet body armor to me; It was tested with WWII German 9mm SMG ammo and ComBloc SMG ammo. Wetsern Body armor is tested with 9mm, .223, .308, 12 ga. 00Buck & slug, etc.

Are you saying it was tested with other ammo, also? It just doesn't make sense otherwise.

Their spec says 7.62 Dragonouv which is the 54mm Rimmed, I'm just not sure what the "green spot" is AP, steel core, etc.... I figure the 9mm is some type of AP round but I don't know what it is in order to compare it to other tables on body armor penetration that I have.

7.62x54R green tip is a tracer round.

PP41 means Pistolen Patrone year of '41 which is just the Russian designation for 9x19. It's probably mild steel core.

ETA: I don't know what "Raug" means, it may be a specific type.

PP41 cannot be designation of 9mm cartridge.
Raug is most probably a miss-spelled RUAG Ammotec (http://www.ruag.com/ruag/juice?pageID=91591), a Swiss company that makes ammo, icluding some nice AP rounds.

and finally, all Russian AP rounds are marked with black tips. Green are tracers.

If it can stop a 7.62x54R it must be some heavy armor...

Thanks for the info, this is what I'm looking for. I just love how these guys make up their own specs and tests instead of just using NIJ specs.

Our issue body armor will stop 7.62x54R - remember the video of the medic shot, who gets up and runs for cover? Sniper's weapon was an Iraqui Dragunov...7.62x54R.

You're correct, I misspoke, it's Swiss not Russian.
