Good news on SB 1195--I think. Someone has amended it to return it to its original form. This puts all the worst aspects of the bill back in place, including the section which makes active duty in the National Guard, military or police an "affirmative defense" rather than an exemption. This means that a National Guardsman should be arrested if he uses an M16 or an M9 with a hi-cap magazine in the course of his duties. He would then be indicted and put on trial, where he would have the option of raising his service as an "affirmative defense."

This sounds bad, but in a state of "moderates" like Illinois, I think it may be the best way to doom this bill. I'm eagerly waiting with bated breath to find out who made the change--it may well be someone on our side. I regret that I'm not totally familiar with the amendment process in the Senate, but I'll find out.

This may be someone's way of forcing Dillard and a few other turncoats to decide whether their careers are worth whatever Daley gave them.

Don, thanks for the, hopefully, Good News about this Bill.

I just hope the 2nd Amendment Activists down in Central & Southern Illinois are really getting organized on this and will be actively working on getting ALL of Commissar Daley's Gun Bills defeated this year and next, when he is expected to try to sneak more of them onto the State Congressional Committees again.

Northeastern Illinois is a lost cause. Chicago has the local Sheople all clustered in tight living conditions in high population areas where they are fed Biased anti-gun news via the controlled mass media. Many of them are Slaves to the Socialist Big Brother Welfare State. When you have the Sheople all crammed in tight in Big Urban Areas, they are easier to Control.

Let's hope Governor Blagojavich is a one termer and will be gone in 4 years. Illinois is a well known and infamous Vote Fixing State and I think this is how that Bird got elected, especially in Chicago, where as you know, the Cemetaries are full of Registered Democrats. I think that explains how Governor Rod won the Governors Office.

Keep us posted. :D

I agree that it's good news, Don.

Sometimes it takes making a personal smell test mandatory for people to recognize a skunk....

That is good news. Blagojevich is shooting himself in the foot on economic issues too. His minimum wage increase that he confidently stated he expects to sign by the end of next week will roll through the already depressed Southern Illinois economy like a winter tornado. I don't see a second term barring some kind of economic miracle.

Unfortunately the gun control issue isn't getting much press coverage down here. We're getting the owrd out though. He's getting almost as much resistance from Democrats down here as he is Republicans on guns.

Hopefully we can beat this soundly enough that they'll wait awhile before trying it again.

Jeff

Don't forget us up here in the occupied zone! There are alot of us resistance fighters up here that are calling, writing, spreading the word. We may be outnumbered by the heathens up here in NE IL but we are still swinging.

I am assured by personal contact with my senator (Petersen from Long Grove) and representative (Sullivan from Mundelin) that they are both against the restrictions being intro'd in the Senate and House.

I should have said clearly that this was a rumor. I'm not totally sure the amendment was made. Only one source and all that, but I'm hoping.

Much as I hate to say it, the fight is in Chicago. If Chicago is a lost cause, we're screwed. Downstate is good only for a counterbalance to Chicago. We will never be able to overwhelm Chicago the way they overwhelm us. We need the majority in Chicago on our side to be able to advance long-term.

I have spoken to both my reps and one in a neighboring district, Dan Rutherford my state senator is going to oppose any gun control legislation and so is Shane Custra my represenative. Hope that it gets no where but lets not let the pressure on our reps subside.
