Old Episode of Cops

I know cops aren't necessarily gun people, but I saw an older episode this afternoon that was kind of laughable.

Male and Female Officers entered a residence looking for a suspect. Of course they found firearms. Stolen, more than likely.

The male officer holds up a rifle and says "This looks like an AK47 Assault Rifle" -- in which it clearly was not...it was an SKS with an AK47 Magazine.

Then the female cop finds a revolver which was quickly identified as a .44 Mag (it didn't look lie one to me, but i could be wrong) -- then the female cop said "This is the most powerful handgun in the world" (wonder where she got that line? LOL)

anyways, i chuckled about it, but it's kind of dissapointing to me that these officers really didn't have a clue. Rant over.

most people can't tell and sks from an ak or an ar15 from a car15 or from an m16... and it is a pretty honest case of dontcare/doesntmakeadifference you have to admit that

the most powerful gun comment though deserves a lynching. :what:

He said it "looks like"........didn't say it was.

And for alot of years the .44mag was the most powerful handgun.

.44 magnum and .454 Casull were developed around the same time.

Every rifle the police find, or the media sees, is an "AK-47 Assault Rifle".

It was a niche item until Ruger and Taurus started chambering their handguns in 454. I doubt anyone who wasn't seriously into bigbore handguns knew about it prior to that.

I've got an AK-47 (non-FA) and I like it lots, but if I had to assault something I would want something more like the sled mounted Finnish 20mm at the LGS. It was designed to be used against the Russians.

And when it's not being labeled as an AK, it's a High-Powered Assualt rifle.

High-powered compared to what exactly? My fist could be called an high powered assualt weapon if you were comparing it to the fist of a fetus....

The male officer holds up a rifle and says "This looks like an AK47 Assault Rifle" --

My AK-47 must be defective. It's never assaulted anyone.

One time during the build up to the first Bush "evil gun" ban, a TV reporter shot a concrete block with an SKS and declared it, I'm not kidding, "The most powerful gun in the world".:what:

Sadly, dumb s**t sheeep believe every thing that is on the boob tube.

an sks was the most powerful gun in the world at one time.

power is not always measured in accordance with the laws of physics. when mao said "power comes from the barrel of a gun" he was speaking metaphorically.

Cops are not firearms experts any more than carpenters are hammer experts. It's just another tool used in the trade.
