Benelli Nova question

I was in the local Sportsman's Paradise today browsing the shotgun racks. They had the usual selection of Benelli Novas. One was a short barreled (18 inch) 12 gauge version in overall low-glare black. I though this was the home defense/tactical version but the salesman said that it was a youth variant. Who's correct?

Pretty sure the youth variant is a 20ga---shortened LOP and a 24in barrel.

This could have been a 20 inch barrel, just guessed that it was 18 inches or so.

IF it was a YOUTH 12ga model with an 18 or 20" barrel -get it! Your almost there with a 13" LOP, you only need change the trigger spring to have a useable HD gun. If the LOP is 14+" like every 12ga I've seen, you are looking at a couple hundred bucks to get it shortened properly!:uhoh:

Did it have rifled sights. I have the home defense version bought several years ago and it is matte black, with an 18.5" barrel and ghost ring sights.

Rifle sights, I think. Definitely not Ghost Ring.

Double check if they are open rifle sights or ghost ring. If they are open sights, could it be a rifled slug gun? I think the slug gun also has an 18.5" barrel, but I'm not sure it has open sights or ghost rings. Of course, my gun was bought (just looked it up to be sure of how long) going on 2 years ago (in Feb) so I suppose it is possible they changed the way they configure the home defense model and has open rifle sights instead of ghost rings now.
Oh, as for those who say the Nova isn't made in an 18.5" barrel, it wasn't on the website when I bought mine either. For some reason they don't put the HD model on the site, but it does (or at least used to) exist.

I was browsing Benelli's website the other day. The 18.5 inch barrel version is listed in the "Military/Special Purpose/Defense" section. Apparently this version can be had with either Ghost Ring or rifle sights.
