Just saw that TechBrute was heading down thisaway, and it got me wondering...who-all is in the DFW Metroplex (Texas) already?

If there's a bunch of us (and I'm betting that there are), why hasn't anybody had a get-together, yet?!? I'll wager we could fill a good-sized range for an afternoon!

So, who's 'round these parts?

Kal

No s**t?!? Me, too!! What range do you go to? Me and the buddy-unit usually hang at the CCGR, but we've also done Luna. Other than that...*blush*...I haven't had enough time to get to anything other than one time at the Bullet Trap, just after I moved up here.

We'll see how many folks pipe up, and who knows, maybe we can get a group discount or something...

I'm in Rockwall so count me in too.

If you guys are on the east side of Dallas and paying for range time then...you're nuts! :)

Go to Ammo Depot in Mesquite and talk to Mickey. Call first because his hours are irregular.
Anyway, he runs a 28 acre chunk of land on the trinity in Balsh Springs. It's a shooting paradise! We shoot trash floating down the river all day long :)
It's got the trinity bank and a gravel quarry as a backstop and it's very secluded and safe.
Most of the guys have full-auto stuff so they can't go to a regular range.
It costs about 150 bucks for a year of unlimited shooting. I saved a TON of money over a real shooting range.

Ammo Depot is just a really neat store too :)

I found this thread as I was doing a search on North Texas area mambers, with a similar idea in mind.

I had started a list, and include it for your convenience. - - -
Give a general call by PM or new thread or E-mail when you get the arrangements made, huh?

Work is in Irving about 5 miles from DFW Gun on Mockingbird - that's where most of my money has been spent.

I work on West Northwest Hwy. directly across the street from the Sam's Wholesale Club which is just across the bridge from Elm Fork Shooting Range (formerly Winchester). Yep, we are right next door to the "Fine Arts Adult Video Mega-Store". Not the best neighborhood!

Just east of Mesquite--about 4 or 5 miles from the Lawson Road Gun Range. Kind of ironic since I've never shot there.

These days I do most of my shooting East of the metroplex since my company gun club (company is about 45 miles east of Dallas) has arrangements with a couple of ranges out in that area.

With enough advance notice I'll try to make a shoot/get together.

Thanks Johnny! :D :D I'm proud to be on your list.

I'm generally available for a shoot anytime, anywhere in N. Texas. I MIGHT have a quality outdoor range (handguns only) available if it's not on a weekend.

Well, I can't lay claim to being from the Lone Star state, but Uncle Sam sent me to San Antonio and San Angelo. Loved both places. When you mention DFW.. I gotta go listen to Stevie Ray. :) And how about Art? Did you all know he is really Jerry Jeff Walker? :D

Here I am in Trophy Club, a small town north of Ft Worth. It's claim to fame is it was built around the only golf course ever designed by golfing legend Ben Hogan. Unfortunately for me, I don't golf!

Personally, I'd rather live in a town built around the only gun range ever designed by Jeff Cooper, or maybe one in Texas, run by Clint Smith. But definitely, not a town for shooters developed by Ignatius Piazza. geegee

I'm next to DFW airport.

Anyone ever heard of a private indoor pistol range in Carrollton?

Talk to the guy that ran the place in 1997, but lost track of him.

Hey y'all. If anyone of y'all on the South end or the midcities are looking for a good, FUN range, I can hook you up with my club.

The club (Johnson County Shooting Sports) range is located just north of Cleburne right near 67 and 35W. It's $100 a year to join the club and you have unlimited use of the range(no RO, IPSC matched, .22 silouhette matches, rapid fire encouraged, 1 and 200 yard rifle ranges)

E-mail if interested in joining or even if you just want to come and shoot with me sometime. READ: P and R and the GF unit

I'm up for any shoot and will assist in organizing if need be.

I've been looking for a good outdoor range close to my house. Jason, I'm looking forward to going shooting at your range, but I'll have to find a time when I can make a day of it as the range is very far away from Saginaw.

ball3006, I'm looking at the Haltom City Rifle and Pistol Club as well. Do they have any restriction on rate-of-fire or the number of rounds you an load into the magazine? Basically, could I take my AR-15 there and unload a 30-round mag as fast as I can pull the trigger if I so desired?

One nice thing about Jason's range, (from what I hear), is that they have no restrictions on rapid-fire and magazine capacity. It is totally stupid to restrict shooters to 5/10 rounds in a 15/20/30-round mag.

I shot at the Lawson Rd range Sunday, it is not a bad range.
It's expensive...well sort of.

I have a membership to the Terrell Rifle & Pistol club which lets me shoot for free and a membership to Targetmasters in Garland which gets me in for $6.

Then, through my company gun club, I have free shooting privileges at the Outback Shooting Range in Cumby, and can shoot for $5 at the indoor range just this side of Quinlan.

Well, guys, where are we going to congregate? Sound like we are from all over the place. Something in Dallas sounds like it's closest to the middle.

If we're gonna do it, I'm going to lobby for an indoor since that takes weather out of the picture.
