This is what we needed, right?

So what was deficient about the SW99? Too much to pay in royalties to Walther or what?
(sorry if already discussed - I didn't see a recent thread)

I personally like the looks of this pistol. I wouldnt mind having one. We'll see how it goes on sales, if its hit or miss, I have not seen one in person yet.

Why would anyone buy one of those with the excellent Springfield XD series out there?

I can never find enough data on S&W firearms... it's like they don't want to talk about location and types of safety, or magazine capacity, or weight....

One of the mags indicated that Peon citizen guns will come with a magazine safety, but LEO/Mil. guns will not. That's a non starter for me.

The folks that will buy are the ones that want a pistol that's "Made in the U.S." and is back by arguably the best customer service in the industry. Remember, this pistol is not revolutionary (arguably, no pistol design really is). Instead, this pistol borrows great features from other designs and thus represents a potential evolution of Smith's past pistols. Plus, I kinda dig its looks. Just my 2cents.

Based on my personal experience with S&Ws plastic fantastic autos it's a darn good thing the customer service is so good. Some of their steel guns are very very good but I have never had a good exp. with a plastic Smith.

yuk.... :barf:
somebody tortured that poor thing with an ugly stick...
it was playing in the ugly tree, fell out and hit every branch on the way down....
even Stevie Wonder got sick lookin at it.....
if you gave it to a gang banger on the street, he'd take the bullets out and hand it back.... even bangers have standards....:scrutiny:
someone should start a support group called "ugly gun owners anonymous"...
friends don't let friends carry ugly guns....
it takes a secure man to carry a gun that ugly and not be self conscious about it.
U...G...L...Y.... it just ain't got no alibi.... its ugly, its fugly. :D

I've shot one... I think it's the most ergonomic plastic pistol yet. Good trigger, points naturally, & the grip feels much smaller and less boxy than the competition. Low bore axis, so there is little felt recoil or muzzle flip. If you want a pretty gun, you shouldn't be buying a plastic pistol. I think this will give the competition a run for the money.

I DO want to handle one, to compare with the new B'Retta PX4. That one I like, in terms of grip and balance.
There will be a choice to make in the trigger action, since they are not the same design - DA/SA versus one-pull-only striker type (M&P).
So why do they put "stainless" on the slide? Ran out of lawyer words and now they are putting marketing blather on guns? How soon until we see "GTX" or "Turbo"?

I read the same thing, and had the same reaction. Screech -- dead stop. Not gonna buy it.
You know, I hear their revolvers and 1911s are good.

Remember, the point of gun laws is to save the lives of THE CHILDRENS!!!!!1!!one!!
If an adult dies because his mag dropped out and the mag safety prevented him from shooting the bad guy, that's just too bad.
