By John Lott.Prime Minister Paul Martin claimed Canada's gun crime problem was being caused by weapons smuggled in from the United States.
But Paul Martin doesn't have the facts to back up the claim. Despite the $2-billion committed to the Liberals' gun registry, the government does not even know the number of guns seized from criminals, let alone where those guns came from.Full story: http://www.canada.com/national/nationalpost/news/issuesideas/story.html?id=ef2f258a-b6bb-4f85-b1cc-cdcdf3218c24

They won't listen up there.
Drug gangs are an "alternative lifestyle," and a part of "hip-hop culture." Therefore they must be embraced and celebrated, like other kinds of diversity.
Gun owners, on the other hand, are evil troglodytes. Worse, they tend to vote against socialism.
Given this choice, the Canucks - along with their collectivist-authoritarian counterparts in the US - are going to go against the gun owners every time.

Heck, I think that the gun owners of America should get themselves classified as living an alternative lifestyle. Guns are just a manifestation of our lifestyle and as such are protected under FREE SPEECH first amendment. Poor second wouldn't be under attack, then we would have newspapers and broadcast media supporting us. Of course, if you only wanted a gun for real use, then only second would apply.
"With my guns I am making a statement so that all can see. My guns say that I am a prepared person, that I take responsibility for defense of my family, and don't want the government to be the only one with that task." etc.
Freedom of speech. My gun on my hip is an expression of what I believe, just as communists burning the American flag is an expression of their beliefs. BTW, it is loaded to emphasize that statement.:neener:

Well, "LAL" is a bit too broad-based. Suppose we consider "LEGAL" (Living Excellent Gun Alternative Lifestyle) Member... or something closely related to your (linguistically recognized) phrase?

Canada: Don't blame American guns
It's alot easier to blame someone else than to own up to a problem and solve it. North of the border creeping socialism seems to have sucked the common sense out of everyone.

Wonder how much of the "gun crime" problem in Canada is caused by guns manufactured in Canada and exported to the U.S. and then smuggled back into Canada?
Seems a bit hypocritical to export guns to the U.S. and then complain about the availability of guns in the U.S.

Being the pedant that I am, I've always more or less felt that "speech" involved ... speaking. Nonetheless, if burning an American flag (a physical act not requiring or involving speaking) can be protected by the SCOTUS as "speech," then it does appear reasonable and logical that wearing a gun (a physical act not requiring or involving speaking) should likewise be Constitutionally protected.
But ... that requires reason and logic! What was I thinking?

A shrewd analogy.
It almost works - too bad "people" and analogies don't always mix, huh?
