Corrupted Signature Lines

It seems that myself and at at least one other person has had the below wordage added to our signature line.
I was in the process of writing a gripe post when Derek answered my email to the forum. He said it was some sort of new feature that was reacting to my asterisks. So I had removed two of them and added a space. Hope it works.

unnecessarilyrudelanguage unnecessarilyrudelanguage unnecessarilyrudelanguage unnecessarilyrudelanguage *"If wishes were horses, then beggars would ride".unnecessarilyrudelanguage unnecessarilyrudelanguage unnecessarilyrudelanguage unnecessarilyrudelanguage *

Looks like it worked, and I'm glad to know what the filter does! :D

While Oleg hasn't said anything, please keep your signature lines down to no more than two lines. One if possible. Save space for posts & not slogans. TX

:D
As can be seen by sig line, it is and has always been a short, one sentence line.
What I find really funny is that the bad language filter reacted to my asterisks rather than the content of the quote.

I wonder what a series of asterisks mean to the filter?

All the way to hell is the end of that signature is it not?

I think we have a "filter of a filter" here. You see, the forum software is set up to filter terms like @#$%, &*^%, etc. (well, you know what I mean! :D ) and replace them with asterisks. I think Oleg's new tweak is to replace those strings of asterisks with the words "unnecessaryrudelanguage", so that it conveys the point a bit more strongly. Unfortunately, the filter now considers ALL strings of asterisks to be the remains of a deleted naughty word, and converts them all!

"Why won't the computer do what I want it to do, instead of what I tell it to do?" :banghead:

"Why won't the computer do what I want it to do, instead of what I tell it to do?" Funny, she said almost the same thing:

"Why won't [you] do what I want [you] to do, instead of what I tell [you] to do?"

PATH,

I don't know. This is a quote that my mother used a lot. What I have quoted is all she used to say.

"If wishes were horses, beggars would ride.
If turnips were watches, I'd wear one by my side.
And if "ifs" and "ands" were pots and pans,
There'd be no work for tinkers!"

That's in my kids' Mother Goose book. Seems to me that I vaguely recall a few more lines, from the Mother Goose book that my mom read to me when I was little. But that one is long gone ...

It's a good sig line, J Miller.

I'm not all that fond of the new tweak, but I guess I'll get used to it. I do appreciate the filter being there, as it forces us all to find creative ways to express our displeasure. Makes it more fun to read others' rants!

I apologize for the unintended consequence of my editing of the word filter. You can read the whole story here: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?s=&postid=20551

It included * * and * * * under the list of words which get replaced as people were using them in transparent terms like * * * *. Unfortunately, at least two people had * * * in their taglines as separators. Guess word "laws", just like gun laws, have negative unintended consequences.

I apologize for the inconvenience and for my lack of foresight about affecting legitimate taglines.

I have some online links for Mother Goose Rhymes. I looked this one up and what you posted is what it showed. I don't have any old books, so I can't check them out.
