actually the word I started to use was not sissy...
but, as that may be..the question is...
is a 357 k frame a "lady" gun? I own a number
of k frame 357's and never really thought of
them as feminine? particulary when S&W
increased the size and weight of the weapon
with it's L frames?...to tell the truth for a
really great, useful, concealed carry and
general duty sidearm a "ladysmith" 65 is hard
to beat...let us remeber the FBI carried a
3 inch round butt model 13 many years....
no sissy gun this one....

I actually enjoy shooting my sister's 3" 65 LS with Hogue grips (it was way too small for me with the stock rosewood grips). And I think the bead-blast finish is more elegant than a standard stainless. So no, I don't think K-frames are sissy guns. I do, however, prefer to shoot Ruger Security-six/GP-100 over Smith's. They just feel better to me.

If you think, for one microsecond, that the Model 65 Ladysmith was a "sissy's gun," I am firmly convinced that the village called, and it demands that you return it's idiot... at once! :what: :D

One way to think of it is that the "Lady Smith" is not for a gal, but IS a gal.

Doesn't everyone else assign female names to their guns? Or, don't they say" "Ain't SHE sweet?"

Yeah but the "treat 'em like a lady" thing has gotta stop at the name, otherwise they're too hard to clean.

The only difference (besides about $200) between the Lady Smith J frame concealed hammer .38 +P I saw today and my 642 were the fancy wooden grips.

I doubt anyone would think it is a sissy gun if they were staring down the barrel of one.:what: no .357 mag is, in fact no gun can be labeled that. gun's are in a sense tools designed for certain jobs.

I prefer to think of firearms as gender neutral to avoid any 'bias' or 'chauvinism'. :p

Calling any K-frame a sissy gun is an insult to Bill Jordan, who pitched the idea to S&W. He was no sissy. :uhoh:

Better a so-called "sissy" gun in one's holster than a so-called "manly" gun in the gun safe.

I have heard the term "belly gun" and "sissy gun" refered to any small handgun from .22 upto .38. They all have short barrels.

the biggest badest warships afloat on the planets oceans are reffered to as "she" and "her". so, i guess it is ok for me to call my handguns "she".

and, i have definitely used the term "ain't she pretty". and, she is.

I dunnoh, get a box of 125 grain .357 mag rounds, and offer to let any one who says its a Sissy gun fire five rounds out of it. And make sure its wearing those little hardwood boot grips.;)

I think they will change their mind at about round number three.:neener:

I am most definitely a Ruger guy, however, I had an S&W Model 65LS that I foolishly traded away during a hissy-fit over the Clinton/SW "deal" a few years back. I have regretted that trade almost daily ever since. That 65LS with its matte-stainless finish, it's shrouded ejector rod, wonderful trigger, and fit and finish the equal of the finest handguns I have ever owned or seen was among the top two or three handguns I have had in my possession. Nothing sissy about that revolver at all. Anyway, if you're doing it right, no one is going to see the "Ladysmith" logo but you anyway, unless you're actually employing the weapon in self-defense and then the object of your attention has things to consider other than the manliness of your handgun. I am sure they won't even notice the logo.

Gotta tell you guys, I am progressive about most everything, but I have never been able to swallow my pride and buy a Ladysmith, and its all about the name and my buddies teasing me endlessly about the name, as I know they would. Additionally, I saw a pink framed EAA at a gunshow a few years ago, and while one part of me thought it was cool that it wasn't a traditional color, another part of me just couldn't stop thinking "Pink"... Sorry guys, I know I sound like a knuckle-dragger here, but it is how it is....

I'm with you all the way on the pink thing but the Lady Smith I could live with pretty easily. It looks like a mans gun named as a woman, kind of like my boat. ;)

If I even have the misfortune to have to defend using a firearm in open court, I sure would prefer that the firearm held up for the jury to view say "LadySmith" in effeminate cursive on the side. The less "tactical" it looks, the better.

Besides, there is nothing sissy about 158 grain jacketed hollowpoints coming out the barrel at around 1300 fps.

I saw one at a show with my SO. She said, "oh its so cute". I just shook my
head.

Now repeat after me... guns are not cute... guns are not cute... guns are
not cute... :D

Ha, ha - The SW 3913 LS is a great gun. So they made some without the LS for those who are insecure in their gender identity.

I hope you guys picked up a little bit of the humor in my post, although it was sort of true. The thing I didn't say was that I think the LS is the most attractive stock revo in the S&W lineup. On the pink gun, I made a joke to my buddy that getting shot with a pink gun would actually be worse than a non-pink gun, only because then your adding insult to injury! On a serious note, that point about having "Ladysmith" on the side during a trial is actually a very interesting and valid point that I don't think I would have ever really thought of...
