I'm looking at a J-frame bodyguard. I shot an old 649 .38. The size was nice, and it pointed well, but I had a very hard time seeing the front sight.

If I were to get one, I'd probably get a pair of Lasergrips, but I noticed that the new model has a pinned black front ramp. So I guess the questions are: (1) is the black ramp easier to see than the serrated front ramp, and (2) since it is pinned, are there more visable front ramps available and how hard are they to swap?

The black ramp is MUCH easier to see than the 'white' stainless blade. You can find replacements, though the choices aren't exactly plentiful. Basically just nightsights, and perhaps in a few different heights.
