Peter Arnett just got picked up by the Daily Mirror in the UK.
:barf: :barf: :barf: :barf: :barf:
I notice that this has already been mentioned in another thread, but it just jumped out at me when watching "Nightline."

Once again, it sounds as if your head is firmly planted....
Do you mean the Global Crossing scandal?
Doesn't sound like treason to me; corruption and malfeasance, maybe, after a jury decides. Peter Arnett committed his actions on camera for all to judge, though I guess it's up to Ashcroft to prosecute. Ezra Pound would be pleased.
Or that Perle has ties to Rumsfeld and supported and helped with planning Gulf II?
Can I have some of what you're smoking?

Something tells me if Clinton had been helping the Chinese try to buy a big chunk of our fiber optic infastructure, you'd have a few more choice words.

Questionable whether it's treason or not.
Tacky as hell, but he's always been tacky as hell.

I'm not one to call everyone who is anti-war a "traitor," but they guy aided the propaganda aparatus of a hostile foreign power.
Quoting the Constitution:
Section 3. Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort. No person shall be convicted of treason unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court.
He didn't just say dumb stuff about the war. He went to Iraq, sought out their propaganda apparatus, and made himself a mouthpiece for the enemy. Sounds like "adhereing to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort" to me.

P.S. Did you see Arnett's "apology"? "I'm sorry if you feel that way." ACK!

Possibly, but those would probably be reserved for the lax security at our weapons research facilities and the technologies we knowingly allowed the Chicoms to have. Bush, Sr. and Klinton both deserve scorn for this. We gave milling equipment that could allow the Chicoms to make better, less cavitation-prone props for their ships and subs during Bush, Sr.'s admin, just off the top of my head. Klinton allowed foreign scientists in our facilities w/ questionable background checks (Bush, too).
Anyway, I'm not as bothered about Perle negotiating for Chinese businessmen for what is civilian-use network, as we aren't currently at war with the Chicoms. Owning the lines doesn't mean that it would be any easier to steal secrets that have been encrypted that travel over those lines.
Again, the jury is still out on what Perle did. Arnett's crime is as plain as the video he made.

I dont think Arnett is guilty of Treason....yet.
China......Why buy when you can get the technology free!

Privately, U.S. intellegence officials also say China has made significant gains both from secrets stolen from the nation's nuclear labs and from technology transfers approved by President Clinton.
"They haven't stolen everything," says one career intelligence officer. "Hell, we gave them most of the technology. The White House was warned and they did it anyway."
In 1996, Clinton personally approved the sale of sensitive technology to China by Loral, a company headed by one of his chief campaign contributors, Bernard Schwartz. Intelligence agencies warned that the sale would give the Chinese access to advanced missle technology, but the administration ignored the warnings.
White House Counsel Charles Ruff advised the President to ignore the warnings of career intelligence officers and listen only to his appointed advisors, who backed the sale.
