My first XD....

and just one of many I'm sure.
This week I took delivery of my first pistol (Purchased and everything by me. It's good to be 21!); a Springfield Armory XD-9.
I love it. :D Once I get my camera back I'll do some pics for you guys. The biggest reason that I got the 5 inch was that it's almost identical in size to a standard Gov't Model 1911 and my Ruger 22/45. Along with the similarities of the controls on all three, this should help when I take new people to the range. I have not gotten to shoot her yet but this next friday I'll be taking a woman from the church that has ask me to teach her how to shoot. It should be fun.
I also picked up a holster and for the first time in my life, I've started carrying around the house. There's no wierd superman feeling. The only feeling I get is the need for an actual gun belt.
Now the only thing that needs to happen is a carry law for honest citizens here in Kansas. :cuss:

Congrats on your new purchase. If you think you are in love now, wait until you shoot it. I have three XDs, all 40 caliber and actually shoot the 5" the least of all, but I love all of them. Enjoy it. Be warned though, one is not enough!:D

I bet that long 9mm XD is a sweet shooter. I have the 4" 40 so it's a little different. Enjoy though, I really like mine. :)

Shot my XD9 for the first time this weekend, and this is what I managed--I know its nothing amazing, but it was my 3rd time ever shooting an autoloader with no formal training or experience..

...people. I got terrible trigger slap with mine, and found it too difficult to conceal in my area (VA Beach). I ended up breaking even, and the guy I sold it to is really thrilled with it.
I'll say this: they are ROCK SOLID reliable, and accurate enough for whatever you want to do.
If you want any XD holsters, PM me, I have a few DIRT CHEAP, and they are very good quality.

I've had my XD9 for about 6 months now. Its the 4" model and I kind of like the compactness when compaired to my 5" 1911. But I haven't been able to shoot it very much because of hurricane Katrina destroying my town :(
I think i am just about to the point where i am going to load up and start shooting some trap in my back yard and see how the neighbors react. If its the usual reaction i'll tell them to get off my property and that my shotgun isn't any louder than their TV because i am 500 meters away and they are inside. I might get to shoot the XD then :D

I have a couple of XDs (9mm and .357 Sig). If you want something pretty amazing, try the 5" .357 Sig. Both of these guns have been 100% reliable and accurate. The 9mm had to have the sight adjusted for windage about 3", but both group really well.

i bought a 5" 40 XD this fall - sorry to say for it ownz my Sig 226 in 40 - not sure why - but it does. awesome shooter - going to get a 3in in 40 once deer season is over for CCW.
nice shooting other than the target says "french" - just bs-ing, glad you love it man.
i have been debating about scoring a 357 sig barrel for mine to try out or a 9mm for ammo cost. i might just have to get another gun (shucks)

Congratulations for buying the most BORING gun in the world. It shoots every time, is extremely accurate, points where I want it to and I saw no need to do any modifications to it. So in whole, a BORING gun. (This is coming from a 1911 lover who enjoys modding) Oh, and its replaced my 1911 as a primary carry off duty and serves as a backup on duty. Have a great time with it :D

Congratulations for buying the most BORING gun in the world.
Man I know what you mean IlikeSA.....every time I point my XD-9 Service at the steel plate rack, I keep hitting those 8" steel circles, and knocking them over.
It never seems to change, point XD at plate, pull trigger, plate falls over....start again.......:D
I was a died in the wool wheel gunner until I bought this SA XD-9, now I'm trading in more wheel guns on more bottom feeders.....(I guess you're never too old to change after all).....;)
