What's been your experience with Verona shotguns? Please note model and how much you've used it. Reliability? Am starting to look around for a reliable General Purpose/Sporting Clays gun.

My faithful Browning Auto 12-ga Ser #263, latest patent date on receiver 1903, made in Ogden, Utah, could probably use some rest...though it shows no signs of it!:D

I don't own a Verona myself (haven't seen them in my part of California) but there is a dedicated following for them in the Shotgunworld forums. I would certainly check them out and probably buy one if I had a chance. Verona is not actually a manufacturer, but a relabeler of different imported brands. Some Veronas come from Turkey, others from Italy. I know the popular LX 500 O/U series is made by F.A.I.R. (Farbrica Armi Isodoro Rizinni). Those who use this gun rave about it and regularly say they are well worth more than their asking price. Some users have reported putting 1,000's of rounds a years thru their Veronas with no appreciable wear or loss of performance. Complaints seem fairly rare.

There is one caveat tho. Apparently there is some disruption in the organization behind the Verona nameplate. And the FAIR guns will not be imported by the same company as before and there seems to be some dispute if the Verona name will continue. The details are too long to elaborate here but from those in the Verona forum at Shotgunworld site, warranty work for existing Veronas does not appear to be a major concern. FAIR apparently is commited to keeping its customer base happy.

So I guess the upshot is - if I found a Verona ATT, new or used, that I liked and at a good price - I would probably get it simply based on the consistently good reviews I hear about it - But remember the actual gun maker is F.A.I.R. and that is the important detail.

Thanks for the info! I was intrigued by the ads for a large number of Veronas/Rizzinis in the current CDNN flyer...very attractive prices!:D

i have a Verona SX-405. i bought it as a cheap semi-auto trap gun to get started with. i didn't want to blow $1200 to find out it wasn't my cup of tea. so far, i have been been 110% satisfied with it. i put a limbsaver recoil pad on it and a HiVis fibre optic front sight. with target loads its a total pussycat to shoot. it has functioned 100% and hits the targets if i do my part. i got my first 25/25 with it a while ago. its lightweight and balances pretty good. it is a little front heavy due to the synthetic stock but its not a problem for me.

a couple of nitpicks that i have with it are:

trigger is a little gritty but getting better with more use.

fit and finish is good, but not fantastic. there's a little glue that squished out between the stock and receiver durring assembly that dried there.

the plastic used for the stock and forearm is a bit soft. it took a light drop and got marred more than i thought it should have.

for the $319+tax i paid for it, i feel i got a great deal. a shotgun coniseur would probably not like it much but my my intents and purposes it's great. it would make a great field gun or starter gun for clay games. i give it an overall thumbs up.

Bobby
