Anybody heard of these guys? They use a 77grain bullet in .40cal and get 2100fps and 754ftlbs of force. BUT, at what cost? Will this light of a bullet effect stopping power?

http://www.rbcd.net/Personal%20Defense%20Ammo.htm

Corbon uses a 135grain JHP to get about 530ftlbs of force.

Speed is a squared vector... but when does the bullet become too light and compermise stopping power?

Energy is not the same thing as force at all.

RBCD is total crap. All you get is a copper jacket squeezed around a nylon sphere and a lead sphere. The asymmetrical, inconsistent deformation during manufacture makes them very inaccurate and inconsistent. In performance, they're pretty much the same as a prefragmented frangible--lousy at best.

sorry, my physics nomenclature sucks. :p

So these guys just produce high velocities to produce high energy numbers to sell ammo.

You have to judge RBCD ammo in context. It is a specialty ammunition.
It is closer to the Glaser Safety Slug, Mag-Safe and Bee-Safe than it is to traditional expanding ammunition.

Do a search on RBCD and you will find MANY threads and discussions on THR about their ammo.

One thing you will notice right away is that people are EXTREMELY opinionated when discussing and cussing specialty ammunitions.
And once in a great while one or two of those opinions might actually come from someone who has actually fired at least one round of it.

But most of what you read will be hyperbole and heresay from chairborne rangers.

Nice. I came across their website and thought it odd. Didn't read what it was designed for. I just saw the numbers and went, whoa.
