Problem with my 550B

I finally set my reloader back up after my deployment and I'm having a problem. The primer system keeps sticking back in the rear position (bottom of the pull). It doesn't want to take a new primer unless I manually pull it all the way back and push it forward. The spring is attached. Does it just need to be lubed, cleaned, or what?
Thanks in advance...
Mark

I'd clean the primer slide and the surface it rides on using alcohol. I'd also put a light coating of graphite where the primer slide and frame rub together.

I suggest taking the primer feed assembly off of the machine and cleaning all bearing surfaces with alcohol, carb cleaner, or the no-residue solvent of your choice. Then lube them all with either graphite or moly--powder, not the paints. I tried graphite paint and although it was okay, the stuff can go on thick and sorta change your tolerances/dimensions. I'm happier with dry moly rubbed in real good.
Don't forget to clean/lube your actuator arm and the little plastic wheel it runs on, too.
Finally, check the little spring-loaded plunger that keeps the primers from all dumping at once. Gumminess there is also bad.

You might end up like a lot of us and just leave the magazine mounting screws a hair loose before your primer feed is 100%.....

Remove the primer tube and housing, clean everything as described above, lube it as described above.
Reassemble, with the screws hand tight, push the handle forward (as if seating a primer) and hold it there while you snug up the mounting screws.
The primer punch being positioned in the shell plate keeps everything aligned properly while tightening.
I've had the same thing occur several times... well ... until I bought the second 550 so I didn't have to swap primers :D
Thanks for serving our country and keeping the world in line while the rest of us sit on our ass and figure out things like primer feed problems. All of us owe you guys and gals a debt of gratitude.
All of our freedoms may have been recorded in the Constitution and Bill of Rights, but they are protected by those who serve THANK YOU.

Blow all the dust out, and hit it with some dry lube. Call Dillon.
So, do ya know how to read a map yet?

I would suggest as others to take off primer assembly clean if it appears dirty, if not would loosen the two screws on bottom of press that hold primer assembly and retighten evenly and not overtighten. If that doesn't correct, take a flashlight
and observe primer tub and pickup cup interaction on down stroke, if pickup cup is too high, you will have to adjust pickup cup with the allen screw with cup in full depressed position by letting edge of press depress it. Sorry for long suggestion, put have encountered all the above reasons for sticking. If you have trouble I'am approx. 35 miles from you, pm me for phone # and if need be I will gladly assist in getting it going . It is a great machine when all is adjusted properly. Thanks for serving and protecting our freedom.

Thanks for the advice. I'll tweak around with it after work and see what happens.
Thanks for all the support! I've been back for about two months now and seen all the family so now it's back to shooting. Ted Brown is assembling a M1A that I bought as a deployment gift to myself and I can't wait for it to be done.
Bogie--Amazingly, when we missed a turn on a convoy and went into a very bad area in Baghdad, it was a NCO in the lead vehicle that couldn't read the map--not the LT! It was a little harry, but we made it through just fine.
Crackerjack--Thanks for the offer. I might take you up on it if I can't get it to run smoothly.
