Well it's been awhile since I had picked these up but I hadn't mentioned anything about them. Bought them both around the same time with the help of the wife. The first is a S&W 66-3 with either a 2" or 2 1/2" barrel depending on how you measure. Lock up is decent but not super tight. Fires great and amazingly I do well with it at 25'. I picked this one up for a fair price at $300.

The second is a Thompson Contender with a .357 and .22 barrel. I'm horrible with it, I think in part it's because of the grip. The all wood on the front just made it real slick on the front when my hands got sweaty. I also had a problem with my left hand pointer finger getting pinched between the trigger guard and my right hand. Other then that the trigger pull is great nice light and crisp. Both of the barrels are 10" bull barrels. The frame and .357 barrel I picked up for $225 and the .22 barrel for another $100. Quite the steal, now I just have to learn how to shoot it good.

I really like the grip on the Smith. Is it a Hogue?

A couple of easy fixes for the slippery stocks -- put skateboard tape on them, or simply wrap them with rubber bands.

And you might try changing your grip, and resting the left index finger on the spur of the trigger guard.

I thought about resting the left hand finger on the trigger guard but it just feels so awkward to me. I may end up going to the pachmyer grip that they sell for the Contender and see if that helps.

As for the grips on the revolver, I'm not quite sure who made them. There's no identifying marks on them other then what looks a "K" routed out on the inside of them. They do look nice though! :D

Dave - forget whether you shot my Contender or not but hey - biggest (IMO) single good move you can make on that one is - get and fit Pachmeyr forend and grip - makes the gun feel so much better.

The M62 appears to be a 2 1/2" - measure from rear of forcing cone.

Bah yeah it is a 66, don't ask me what I was thinking when I wrote that. It's fixed now.
