.380 Ball - Swaged

Hi - I am trying to find swaged ball in .380 for my '51 London Navy (Uberti). I use Hornady swaged in .375 at the moment, but find that sometimes they creep forward in the chambers... not good. I know that I could cast my own, but would prefer swaged for accuracy.

The market for shooting products is very limited here in the UK, but I can usually get most stuff imported. Anyone out there know a source?

Also, one of my friends at the range suggested that chamfering the mouths of the chambers, like you might do to to the other end of the cylinder on a cartridge revo to aid speedloading (if we were still allowed cartridge handguns  ) would make the .375 ball 'squeeze' into the chambers rather than cutting the traditional 'ring of lead' - thereby making for a marginally tighter fit.

Any comments? - all wisdom gratefully received!

Dave

The Ozark (formerly Warren) bullet company is the only souce I know of for swaged .380 Ball. Dixie gun works lists cast 380s part number BA0401 at under eight dollars per hundred. You could call them and see if they actually have them in stock.

Warren /ozark balls are not always completely round or of the same size but they do produce accurate groups in my 61 navy.

Andy Allwood at Bracknell does .380 cast balls. Don't know of anyone doing swaged ones, unless you care to buy the Nalan press and do it yourself, then start selling them.

Thanks MKVII - so I have discovered.... although after the Trafalgar, Andy's out of them at the moment, but Fultons at Bisley had 200 - looking forward to trying them tomorrow :D

Well, the .380 cast ball that I got from Andy Allwood works perfectly. No movement of the ball in the cylinder, better groups than I am usually able to produce @25 yd too! Very pleased - all I need to do is get Andy to make them more often now... or learn to cast my own :)

Will abandon the search for swaged, cast seems perfectly good at these distances (25, 15, 10yd.) Thanks for the replies.

I have a Lee .380 mould. Works very well.
