I don't want to get involved, I just want to sell guns.

Today, as the putative organizer of Sacramento County's RKBA ballot initiative :uhoh: , I went and dropped informational flyers off at several gun shops in the area. The folks at The Gun Room (http://www.thegunroom.org) were interested and very helpful. The proprietor at Wild Bill's Old West Trading Co. said he'd put them in the window. I left a whole stack by the door at The River City Gun Exchange. Broadway Rod N' Reel was excited to hear about the effort, and put some right on top of the counter.
And then I stopped at Old Sacramento Armoury. I'd actually stopped in on Monday and left some information with a clerk after I'd explained the initiative. He said then he doubted the owner would help, since he doesn't get involved in political causes. Well, he was right. The owner never came out of his office. Just said "No".
No. I don't get involved in political causes. Not even one that would protect his business.
He sells guns. He sells ammo. HE IS INVOLVED, LIKE IT OR NOT!!!! The word TRAITOR comes to mind.
So as of right now I am announcing a boycott of Old Sacramento Armoury. I will not spend another penny in that shop. If you've been there before, tell them why you won't be returning. If you've never been there, tell them why you won't be coming in.

I would like to encourage everyone to, as we say in California, express your feelings  on the matter. Don't neglect the fax option, either.
San Fran just banned handgun ownership. If this guy wanted to stay away from the political, he should have opened a craft supply shop.

Well, he would have been fine like that 200 years ago. :)
Please accept my thanks and gratitude for giving a hand. :)
No problem about his shop, I live 300 or so miles from there. :)

What a shame. I guess I'll have to scratch OSA off of my 'places to buy stuff' list for my C&R.
Sometimes, I truly believe the 'firearms culture' cuts it's own throat.

I have had the same experience at LA Guns, http://www.laguns.com, in Hollywood on Sunset. I asked them why they didn't have any flyers or posters about the ammo serialization bill, a bill which would put them out of business if it ever passes (something which is possible). They said, "We try to stay non-political." Hello, IT'S A GUN STORE! I realize that my local florist doesn't put up "vote for ___" signs because that would piss off a certain percentage of customers. But LA Guns (on Sunset) is a GUN STORE! All the anti-gun people are already pissed off at them and if gun bans pass, they are OUT OF BUSIENSS! Look at what happened just recently in SF.
We should all publicly shame these businesses. I'm going to be going around to a few places for CA's RKBA initiative and I'll be sure to post my results.
It boggles my mind. I often see ranting on this board about how illogical liberals are, but I can tell you, no one has a monopoly on that.

What a tool.
Not surprising though. I've been to many gun shops that were run by complete sphincters that did not give a crap about anything that did not immediately benefit them.
It's almost like they stumbled into the gun business on accident and would have been just as content selling beanie babies.
This sounds like the attitude of many "sportsman" I've run into as well.

Don't buy from gun stores that "won't get involved" by at least having a petition, a poster, or something similar.
Hell, gun shops here have photos of Feinstein and Kerry looking like devils, posters from JPFO equating gun controllers with Hitler, etc. and if there's a petition, it will be there.

If this is the attitude of Kali gun shops:eek: , you will continue to lose your 2nd Amendment rights. And you will always be on the defensive fighting the anti-gun laws as they come up for a vote in Sac. And the longer existing unconstitutional laws are on the books and the sheep get accustomed to the restrictions, the harder it will be to restore your constitutional rights.
I hate to point out this fact, but it appears that the anti-gun forces in Kali are going to prevail.:what:

Just sent this e-mail to the Old Sac Armory.
Dear Sirs,
It has come to my attention that a citizen approached your store in hopes of putting flyers in support of the burgeoning 'Right to Keep and Bear Arms' ballot initiative to have an amendment supporting the RKBA in the California constitution.
I am deeply concerned, and disappointed to hear that the owner of the Old Sacramento Armory does not have the courage, and dedication to his industry (or customers for that matter) to support this cause, or place the flyers in his store. Such cowardly, 'I-don't-want-to-get-involved' actions are anathema to the struggle to keep leftist dogmatists from eliminating our right to keep and bear whatever firearm we so choose.
Based on this repulsive choice to not support the 'Right to Keep and Bear Arms' ballot initiative, I will never purchase anything from the Old Sacramento Armory again. Furthermore, I will be telling all who will listen what your store has decided, and I will be strongly encouraging them not to patronize your store in any way. It is my sincere hope that your financial security will be impacted in such a way, that you will realize how inane your choice was to not support the RKBA ballot initiative.
The reputation of the Old Sacramento Armory is already being seen as traitorous to the RKBA debate on many firearms forums.
Sincerely,
XXXXXXX

I can see a business staying out of political issues that don't impact the business directly . . . so Exxon would stay out of abortion politics, Dell Computers would stay out of oil drilling politics, Lenscrafters would stay out of farm subsidy politics, etc.
But when a GUN SHOP decides not to participate in RKBA POLITICS, that's just a mark of either laziness or obstinate stupidity.
Maybe both. :barf:
