Hey i just bought a FAL and its having lots of trouble feeding i loaded 9 round in the gun and it jammed 3 times. Its a cali legal FAL so i have to load the rounds from the top. Do you think i should just take out the mag thats in there now and try a new one? Or should i just take it back to the manufactuer.

So does it by chance have Century International Arms stamped somewhere on the receiver?

Have you properly set the gas adjustment? Are you using reasonably good ammo, either US made commercial ammo or one of the better milsurps? Is the gun clean and properly lubed? If the answer is yes to these questions then look for mag problems or other mechanical problems. Sorry, but I don't know anything about whatever mods they did to make a FAL Cal legal so I can't help you with it if it's a mag problem.

If it is possible (and legal?) to use a different magazine I would try that first before sending it away for repair. I only had cycling issues with my FAL one time and it was magazine related. Basically, the magazine was too narrow and was providing a slight amount of resistance to the upward travel of the follower and ammunition stack. I sprang the magazine open a little bit with some needle nose pliers until it matched the width of my other magazines, as measured with a caliper, and it has worked fine since.

I have no experience with California legal FALs, but maybe this will help anyway.

The problem is i have not found any 10 round magazines in california where i live. The only things that are differnt on a cali legal FAL is the reciever cover and the mag release instead of having a spring it has a screw to prevent you from taking the mag out.

Any ideas where i can get a 10 round FAL mag?

So who did make it?

My first guess would be the gas setting, if you have never fired the rifle before. Look up some gas setting instructions on FALfiles.

Why not answer these questions....if you do indeed want some help?

Gas settings were fine gun was brand new and well lubed Ammo i was using was both surplus and new Ammo . They ended up switching out the magazine and its feeding alot better. Hopefully that solved the problem. Thank you all for your help.
