Help, my new Taurus Tracker looks used!

I picked up a new revolver, fired about 50 rounds through it, and now the area in front of the cylinder and near the ports are black. What should I use to bring it back to that stainless steel shine? CLP didn't do much of anything, should I use the Fitz or Flitz polish stuff? What do you revolver shooters use?

Eraser perhaps...lots of scrubbing...
Sheesh, it's the look of a fireable weapon.. My wife's SS tracker looks fine..even she doesn't complain (which she would if it looked bad).

Just keep banging away with it. The whole front of the cylinder will turn black and all will be fine.

A lead away cloth will clean it like new. You can usually get them at your local gun shop.

Hi all. First time poster here.
Glad I stumbled on this thread - I'm expecting a 627SS Tracker once my wait period is over. I was really curious if it was hard to get the residue off of the barrel -- now I hear about this lead-away stuff and JUST IN TIME!
I have a barrel for my G17 that extends about 1" beyond the front of the slide and has two slot-type ports in it - i usually take the .22 cal steel brush barrel cleaner and scrub the residue out - it fits in there just right, but i'm hoping that this lead-away cloth will work for that too!

the 'stains' on the cyl of my s/s Dan Wesson 'Fat Bastard-special' compensated .44mag are proudly left as-is after a wipe or two of CLP.
btw- you fired 50 rounds, it is now 'used'!!

But I like thinking it as new when I look at it. :)
The only gun I have that I don't mind looking used is my Glock... everything else looks nicer new, the Glock has character when it looks used.
I'll look for that lead away cloth next week. Thanks!
Don't worry, once I get it back to somewhat shiny, I'll take it to the range again.

Well, it IS now a used gun, just like buying a car...once it hits the street exiting the dealer, it is a "used" car.
My SS Vaquero shows that powder burn ring around the chambers, too. I keep it as clean as possible, so that while it looks 'gently used', it doesn't look 'fired 10,000 rounds and never cleaned' used.

I use the lead away cloth on all my SS guns and as long as you keep up with cleaning with it your guns will look new , had spme ask me if I was ever going to shoot my KGP and I told them I have run apx 10 k worth of rounds thru it . you can wipe on then let it sit for a little bit and its like soaking the carbon off .

Finally got the cloth, what's in this thing? It cuts through all that stuff like butter! Thanks a lot!

I've heard of this cloth but incredibly, never had/used one yet. I must look out for one.
