Watching the "Man, Moment, Machine" series that came on right after Shootout, N Hollywood Bank Robbery. They were showing the differences of the BAR Clyde Barrow used, the thompson, and the 1911. It was a computer animation and they showed the 1911 as being DA and not SA.

The computer animation was labeled Colt .45. Owning a SA Mil-spec, I just laughed for a few minutes at this glaring error.

Noticed that. In spite of small errors, I enjoy the shows. I bet J.M.B. kind of did a little spin in his grave. I sure would like to have one of those B.A.R.s!
Mark.

They said something else that struck me as strange, they said that the BAR fires from an open bolt, I thought the BAR fired from a closed bolt.

Maybe I am wrong.

Thanks for the info. I love wikipedia and tout it's range of information available but totally forgot to use it to look that up.

I saw only a few minutes of it. Did they mention that they didn't have just AKs but also HKs ?

The semi BAR's you see around are all closed bolt, so maybe that's why the confusion. The "real deal" was an open bolt for sure, I have one of each.

The internals are not even remotely close to being the same.

As for Barrow's BAR, I don't know that I'd want to shoot one cut down that short. It's borderline uncontrollable in it's BIG format from the hip, I can't imagine what that little thing would be like to shoot. :what:

Wrong thread man, you're thinking of the Shootout! yesterday on the North Hollywood bank robbery/shootout.
