Ok, so I'm just looking for a good place to pick up the Chinese para trooper model SKS for a good price. Also, would love to know if there is anything to look out for with the Chinese para troopers?

I've got a yugo that I bought a couple years back and didnt do my research really, and now I discover that there is a 16" barrell version out there! My current yugo is long and heavy....would love a shorter lighter gun.

I would be curious about other SKS's as well. Most of what I see retail is the Yugo's. I don't see too many of the others. Most are used at gun shows. I am still not knowledgeable enough to figure out what the pay for them. Can't really say I am in the market for another SKS right now, but if one can be had cheap, I might become interested. :)

No only is there the 16" barrel version, but my brother has a 16" Norinco that takes AK magazines. I use to owne it and installed a Advanced Technologies black plastic stock and a muzzle break. Looks great, but heavy!

The Chinese SKSs are no longer being imported, so you will need to check the used rack of your favorite local store (which is where I found mine), or cruise the usual online auction sites.

Also, SKS variants modified to take AK mags are still considered "assault weapons" in California and cannot be transferred.

Sounds pretty good to me. I'm watching one on gunbroker right now that is at $155, it'll be done tomorrow.

But I think you just might have a deal, will you hold on to that for me until tomorrow night at $200? :)
