I'm going to put in my order soon for a pair of M frames, which lends itself best to shooting? I'm leaning on the Sweep, the ones on the far right.

Your thoughts?

Skunk,
I wear OAKLEYS on the range about 3-4 days a week....and they are without a doubt, the best solution for safety and visibility. They are so comfortable, that you are more likely to have them on when something comes screaming at your eye.

And they are tough.....I have lenses with big gouges from jagged clay target chuncks that have slammed into my face. I have others that have stopped #7.5's[shotgun pellets].

The trick on M Frame lense shape is to try them on....the reason behind the different lenses is different shapes to suit different shape heads. Look for lenses that offer good coverage, but that don't rest on your checks......if they do, they can shift as you check your rifle/shotgun and move around...very descerning.

Personally, I wear the NEW HYBRID lenses. The STRIKE lenses is my second choice.

Basic Choices are HEATER, STRIKE, HYBRID, Small HYBRID, and SWEEP. They all fit the basic M FRAME, and they are interchangeable.

Oh yeah, as you probally already know, they offer the M FRAME in faux Carbon Fiber.

Back when I wore them, I went for the lenses w/ the greatest coverage & presumably most protection. I ended up going w/ the ones that looked the most conventional. Bottom line, get the ones that you think look bes on you! ;)

gotta fit your face. i always liked the more exotic shapes too, but they ended up resting on my cheek bones...one downside to being asian...so i ended up with the STRIKES too.

definately very comfortable, light and clear

I've used the Strike for quite a few years without any visual problems. Don't know about the other models. Just an FYI, if you plan on getting Rx inserts for your Oakleys research carefully. I had my Strikes with the inserts. About once a year, the lens (the part surrounding the Rx) would get stressed to the point that it would crack and no longer hold the insert. I think it's a design issue. Anyway, Oakley always replaced the lense and the frame for free, but it was a pain having to go to Oakley all the time to get it changed. You can send it in for repairs, but you'd have to pay for shipping to them.

If you plan on having inserts, you might want to consider one of the models where the entire lense would be Rx rather than an insert where they cut a whole in the main lens and put the Rx insert. You might also want to look at the stuff from Rudy Project.

Does Oakley or any of the other manufacturers make any protective eyewear that would fit 'over' my prescription glasses?

My current eyeglasses are very small and so don't provide a lot of protection. I'd like to get a pair of protective glasses like the Oakleys that provide additional coverage protection but also allow me to wear my prescription lenses underneath.

Oh, and they have to look decent too... :D

I'm sorry Skunk, but could those things be any more hideous :)

What is with sunglasses nowadays? I'm just in the market for a new pair of sun/shooting glasses and have been looking around a bit. They all make you look like a bug or a space cadet. Blah. I had the same problem when i wanted to replace my cell phone. The entire universe is being overrun by products designed for 15-year old Korean girls. It's like the 'Hello Kitty' invasion force.

I've had my Zeroes for a coupla years. They've worked great. They're light and comfortable. I can't stand lenses resting on my cheeks and the Zeroes were the only ones that fit just right. Seems like all the Oakley metal frames are made for pea heads or maybe I just got a big cranium.
