Most ridiculous felony

A felony can ruin your ability to buy firearms.
What's the most ridiculous felony you know of?
(Owning a rifle with a 15 3/4" barrel, or one with both a pistol grip and a folding stock, fly to mind...)

Yep, CZ-75 is the winner. But I think it was a Capital crime.

No, the worst is the guy from TX who was shooting in TX, took out all his guns and ammo - but someone found an extra box and put it in his vehicle - he then went to Mexico where they found the ammo.
He became a mexican felon for doing something not even regulated in most of the US (posessing a few rounds of ammo) and he has felony status in the US and can no longer own arms. All this for what is essentially an accident or oversight and doing something completely without criminal intent or malice.
How much does THAT suck?
Worst part is - you can appeal to the BATF to get your rights back - but oops! there is no funding for that process os he is SOL.

(Ex)Felon in posession of a firearm. The legislation is both illegal and unconstitutional. It forces the judical and executive branches into choising whether to obey illegal legislation or the law. Unfortunatly most LEO's and judges decide to ignore their oaths of office, and become criminals/felons.

An "Einstein protege" had been casing a Boston bank for several days, waiting for just the right moment to commit robbery. He went through the customer line, and approached the teller's window, he produced a handgun and announced in a very loudly "THIS IS A HOLDUP, NOBODY MOVE!" Much to his dismay, the next five customers were armed FBI agents on their lunch breaks, attempting to cash their checks. The man quickly surrendered with no shots fired. His "genius" casing job had failed to notice the FBI Field Office two doors down. - Boston, Massachusetts

In Idaho, a felony is defined as any crime punishable by death or imprisonment in the state prison.
ADULTERY in Idaho is punishable "by a fine of not less than $100, or by imprisonment in the county jail for not less than three months, or by imprisonment in the state penitentiary for a period not exceeding three years... :what:
It's a horribly cruel act, but a possible FELONY?
It's an old holdover law from the past, like fornication and mutual cohabitation (unrelated, unmarried people living together), but it has been successfully prosecuted AS A FELONY not long ago.

The most ridiculous felony I've ever committed was when I exported a copy of the encryption program PGP to the island nation of Anguilla several years ago.
I was rather proud of myself, despite the fact that it was a meaningless gesture, since that cat had already gotten out of the bag, had kittens, and her kittens had shredded the bag. Actually, I still am rather proud of it. My personal F U to Albore and his Clipper Chip. :D

When I left the People's Republic of California last year, it was a gross misdemeanor to be caught carrying a concealed registered firearm, but a felony to be caught carrying an unregistered firearm.

from an old TFL thread (http://www.thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=146883&highlight=felony+speeding) In some states, Arizona included, anything in excess of 20mph over the posted limit is considered a class D type of felony.

Withdrawing less than $10,000 with intent to evade the WOD background checks done on cash withdraws of $10,000 or more is a federal felony...
In Maryland, most crimes are punishable by "not more than three years" in jail. So, doing almost anything wrong will get AG Curran on your butt to take away your guns.

If you read further in that thread from TFL, it's not a felony to exceed the speed limit in excess of 20 mph or greater in AZ.
It states = Class 3 misdemeanor.

Withdrawing more than $10,000 in cash is a felony  why would it be a crime to take out my own money?
Not that I would do it because I would be concerned about getting robbed, but why can't you take out your own money?
What's the difference if you depoist all of your paychecks in the bank and then wirthdraw all of them at once or withdraw each paycheck one at a time to accumulate $10,000+ ?
Not disagreeing with you ... just shocked and interested in hearing the logic behind this one.
Preacherman
April 7, 2003, 10:09 AM
Alan, you can withdraw as much as you like, whenever you like: but withdrawals or deposits in excess of $10,000 must be reported by the banks to the Feds, who then investigate whether or not the transaction involved drug money. I suspect the IRS would also be interested... :fire:

Alan: Its the *intent* to avoid the bank reporting the withdraw that is the felony, not the withdraw of the cash that is the felony.

Here's one which comes up in custody lawsuits in states like Minnesota and most of the South: consensual sodomy (defined as just about any non-procreational sex) is a felony. The laws isn't enforced but comes up in adoption cases concerning same-sex couples, for example. Make spouse happy, lose legal right to keep firearms

Ain't that the stinker?
Although I can tell you that no federal charges will likely be levied as a result of a single, isolated incident of this nature. Rather, it is used as a tool to find other goodies to ensure tenancy at the graybar hotel, better known as Club Fed. Once it has been determined that a crime has been committed, further surveillance is almost a certainty.
The Feds don't want the small fry, they want the BIG fish. This is simply a tool.
However, you CAN catch a 5 year all expense paid vacation for it, so it is a law with teeth. See CFR Title 31 sec.5324, and CFR Title 18 (RICO) for more.

Minn. Stat. sec. 3.191
Altering engrossed bill.
A person who fraudulently alters the engrossed copy or
enrollment of a bill which has been passed by the legislature,
with intent to procure its approval by the governor,
certification by the secretary of state, or printing or
publication by the printer of the statutes, in language
different from that in which it was passed by the legislature,
is guilty of a felony.
It goes back to the chicanery that occurred when the St. Paul legislators "stole" the state capitol designation from St. Peter in the mid-1800's.

Is being a straw buyer a felony? Because depending upon my intent, I might just be a double felon. Of course, my intent is pure as driven snow, so I'm not too worried about the thought police, but I'm still wondering just how bad I really am.
