Megastar Replacement Spring

I have a Star Megastar that is failing to fully load. After firing a shot, the slide doesn't go all the way into battery. A gentle push will insert the round all the way into the chamber and allow the next shot to be fired. Although there may a little too much friction, which is stopping the slide from going into battery, I believe that a recoil srping which is a couple of pounds stronger would fully load the round. I cannot find any replacement Megastar springs, and the factory spring would probably be too weak to solve my problem. Would I be insane to buy a couple of Colt Elite 10mm springs from Wolff for about $8 a piece and try them in my Megastar? I have polished the ramp and chamber to reduce friction in loading the round.

Thanks,

Drakejake

Im not familiar with that gun, but you might try looking up wolff springs on the internet, I think that they have a ton of aftermarket stuff for all the majors.

Nevermind I just read the rest of your post. Email or Call wolf and see what they have to say. They are the spring experts as it were.

Drakejake, if you have a caliber maybe measure your guide rod and spring diameter and post them. Maybe someone here can give you some suggestions. Mark

Drakejake - I think that is an excellent
idea. Wollf can normally solve 99%
spring problems.

You must have surely shot the heck out
of that machine.

No, the failure to go into battery happened with the first mag I fired with this slightly used Megastar. I have the Wolff catalog and have exchanged messages with them. They are very helpful but want very precise measurements of the original spring. I am still thinking about getting a couple of Delta Elite springs of different strengths and trying them out. I have also polished the ramp and the chamber.

Thanks,

Drakejake

If I remember correctly, SARCO bought
all the remaining stock of parts and such
from the defunct importer, Interarms.

Might check with them also. Wish you
luck. Here is a Star site -

Try M&M gunsmithing (703) 739-2150. The guy use to work for interarms. I have bought firestar parts from him. If he doesn't have the spring maybe he knows of a replacement spring that might work. Mark
