This morning after helping me reload a 100 45 Long Colt rounds (two of which she made all by herself :)) my 4 year old grand-daughter got a hankerin' to see some of my guns. While showing her what she wanted to see it occured to me that it'd be pretty funny to take a most politically incorrect photo and post it here. As you can see she got into it too... She's partial to rifles - especially big ones (got no idea why). Not to into handguns yet though. In another couple of years I'm gonna pick up a .22 Auto and start teaching her to shoot. :D Can't wait.

Enjoy and post your own politically incorrect pics that will get the blissninnies' panties in a wad.

http://members.cox.net/werewolf1326/images/Digital/blissninny.JPG
She really wants to shoot this 22 but she's just not big enough yet. Probably won't be until she's 9 or 10 (girls in my family tend to be small). I told her when she's big enough that she can hold it up right that I'll for sure teach her how to use it. Little does she know I've got an ulterior motive - when she gets old enough she'll still wanna come over to Paw Paw's house.

Why not get the little lady a Cricket single shot .22lr?
Bout 100 bucks at your local box store, weighs only a few pounds, very compact gun. Another plus is that it is very safe. It has to be manually cocked by someone with at least a little strength for each shot, meaning that should the kiddies get ahold of it there is less chance of a discharge (note:this is by no means a suitable substitution for a safe/gunlock/whatever).

I asked the DoJ if belts "longer than 10 rounds" could be linked together. They replied in the affirmative, as long as they're done with links manufactured before the ban. Oddly enough, they didn't mention anything about the links being owned before the ban. Remember, each link holds only a single round, and thus can be bought and sold freely. And there's a lot of pre-ban links out there.

I didn't mention belt-length to any California legiscritters...I just got my first belt-fed gun. I certainly don't want it to be my last.

when i had that little girl in the pic out shooting (her 2nd time ever w/ a gun), it would have been so nice to have that ar suppressed. i find that new shooters, especially girls, are far more scared of the muzzle blast than anything else. suppressors would make it a ton easier to get more girls (and subsequently women) into shooting.

Those are so cool, the pictures. I love to see kids with guns having a great time at the range or just enjoying them.

Since this thread was started in 2005, how many of the kids have their own guns now? Especially the first post (she should have at least a youth .22 by now :) ),

Since this thread was started in 2005, how many of the kids have their own guns now? Especially the first post (she should have at least a youth .22 by now ),Original poster here and to answer your question - Nope... She's only 4 and still on the small side (physically) It's just been the last few months that she has accepted wearing ear protection which allows her to go to the range. So no 22 yet.

I've looked into youth 22's and like the colorful Crickets that are available (so does she). She gets the difference between real guns and the toys she has but I'm not convinced that her 4 year old mind can fully grasps the concept of what a real gun, even a 22 can do - yet. I'm still thinking she'll be ready for a real firearm around the age of 6 - which is about 1 1/4 years away.

She is very comfortable around Paw-Paws guns. She likes to look at and handle them, always asks and knows not to touch if I am not around. She likes to help me reload ammunition. She plays with toy guns just like I did when I was a kid so I know the interest is there. BUT I also know my grand-daughter really well and I don't think she's at the point yet where I would feel comfortable with putting the real deal in her hands. Eventually but not yet - no not yet.

Seeing these young children with guns gives me hope that all is not lost in America. Unfortunately, far too few people teach their kids to shoot and why firearms are so important in maintaining our freedom (what we have left of it).

Great thread. One of my best days was with a friend and his daughter shooting her first rifle. That reminds me I owe a little girl a range trip since her Dad is deployed, and she says I am more fun to shoot with than Mom.

its hard enough finding someone to go to the damn range with me. yet I see pictures of free states with people 1/3 my age with UZI's and AR's. I love America, but NJ is another story haha.

DontBurnMyFlag, the Association of New Jersey Rifle and Pistol Clubs runs a Youthfest every spring at the Cherry Ridge Range. I've taken my kids twice and both times they had a blast. Shotgun, black powder, 22's, and high-power rifles, open to all kids 10 to 18 and absolutely free. A really great program.

my family doesn't get it but my wifes starting to. we stopped at a gunstore outdoor range my 4 year old daughter asked me about noise and it was easier to show her than explain. i really love how folks will take time to help. from range officer who rushed to make sure we had ear protection for her(and suggested and provided plugs to go along with the muffs i bought her. to the lady who explained guns to her and showed her hers and explained "the rules" the ro liked the fact that rug rat already knew em and when lady started telling them they ended up reciting them together. its great if we're outside shooting skeet in yard she won't come out with out HER muffs. i hope mthat she won't be 1/2 deaf like daddy.

(And before anyone says anything. They were not shooting at the time. We had gotten home. They wore ear and eye protection at the range.)

I'd get it in writing if I were you.

There used to be a 'reply with quote' type of button, but Admin removed it for fear everybody would just start hitting that button and quote the whole post instead of just the part they were responding to. Personally, I miss that feature, knowing it's no big deal to edit the irrelevant parts.

shoots together stays together. One of my brother, his 4 year old daughter, and Uncle ST's Christmas present.

Her and her twin sister both know Uncle got them a pair of Smith Mod 13 revolvers. As Heckel said "We like the circle guns, not the square ones like you and Daddy use."

Jeckel seemes to prefer the bolt .22 I got them. Go fig.
