I bought one of these about 15 years ago. It was a good deal and has been sitting in a closet . Recently I took it out. The trigger pull is way to heavy and I don't like the serrations on the trigger. I'm thinking about having an action job done and removing the trigger serrations. I haven't sent a gun off to get worked on in over 10 years and reading some threads it appears it can be a hassle. If I can find someone good within driving distance(50 miles or so) I'd rather just take it there to drop off. Anyone know a good person to do this in SE PA-Phila. suburban area or 50 -75 miles radius?

Before investing in the gun, shoot a few hundred rounds through it, dry fire it a few thousand times, and then search this forum and others about Taurus products and customer service.
I've had a few Taurus products and used the last as a trade for a new Smith,

Before sending it away, you may want to consider a Wolff replacement spring kit. www.gunsprings.com I put a lighter mainspring and trigger return spring in my girlfriend's 85. It took about five minutes, (with me not knowing what I'm doing), and made a really big difference. She went from being marginally competent with this gun to being able to make solid hits easily and fairly quickly. Wolff sells a package with a couple different weights of each spring for about 8 bucks. These springs, as well as just a little scrubbing and lubricant while the sideplate was off, vastly imporved the trigger pull. Just something else to think about, way cheaper than 'smith work, which you can always have done later. HTH.

The Taurus factory did the trigger job on my 731. (Same size as 85.) In ONE WEEK. The double action pull weight was cut in half and the single action pull is under 3 pounds. The trigger face came "slick" on mine. Great revolver.
