10mm hotrods?

Anyone done anything seriously deranged to a 10mm? I've got a CZ-52 for insane handgun velocities, but I got to thinking...Danger Will Robinson!
What if you necked a 10mm down to?:
.355-That would kinda blow the doors off a .357sig
.308-A modern Tokarev
.224-Wow, consider the fun you could have with all the HP rifle bullet offerings, ballistic tips, etc. No AP, keep it legal. Remember though that green tip isn't classed as AP. :) Case would need to be shortened a little then necked to keep OAL in spec.
I'm thinking that this would be nice in a single stack 1911 variant.
Or, you could do option #2 or #3 to a .38super. Anyone done sumptin this dumb? Stop me before I get sizing dies!

The 10 necked down to .355 sounds too good an idea to have not been thought of before. I'd go with that. Out of a 1911........gives me goosebumps thinking about it. What would you call it? The 9-10?:D

10mm necked to .224 has been done already. It's called the .224 BOZ.

It's been done.
10mm Auto necked down to 9mm is the 9X25 Dillon
10mm Auto necked down to .224 is the .224 BOZ, an experimental military cartridge that peens the hell out of 1911's, but does well in Glock 20's with really light recoil springs.
Surplus 7.62X26 is available and cheap, why try to reinvent the wheel?

The 9x25 is way too loud; recoil is punishing.
Too much of a good thing.

That isn't possible.

Then we have the 30 Armco, a 10mm necked down to .30 caliber, at 110gr @ 1850 from a 5 inch tube. Imagine a Quik Shok bullet from a 6 inch tube!!!
The 450smc, 10mm, and 9x23 Winchester are the calibers of the next century.

"But Glockler, "stopping power" is a myth, it's shot placement that matters, all defensive pistol rounds provide about the same chance of incapacitating the bad guy, just buy what you like and practice with it, because none a really any better than the others..."
 Sorry. Just stirring the pot. I just find it amusing that a lot of folks that say exactly what I typed up there carry, for instance, .40s over 9mms, even though they're available in the same guns, or carry +P 9mm ammunition instead of standard pressure, and so on.
Just admit it, folks, you LIKE MORE POWER. POWER IS GOOD. THE ONLY PERSON IT CAN HURT IS THE PERSON YOU SHOOT WITH IT. (Except for .500S&W, which can give you tendonitis.) You dont' have to put out the "shot placement is all that matters" disclaimer to avoid offending the 9mm/.380/.38 Special fans.
If you're confident with 9mm, or a .380, then fine, good for you, 9mm will kill them just as dead. But everytime a discussion like this comes up, there's always one or two guys that feel the need to opine that none of these rounds (once they included .440 Cor-Bon in this, for crying out loud) will stop a fight any better than 9x19mm. As if, I don't know, they feel insecure about carrying the Parabellum round while others like shooting 10mm.

For any kind of actual use, 9x23 is better than 9x25. If you need more than 9x23, 10mm will do it better than 9x25 anyway. :D

If you consider the ballistics of the 10mm necked down to .30 cal, you will see that it is much closer to the ballistics of an M1 carbine than it is to a 7.62x25.
Pretty impressive when you can get carbine performance from a pistol...
It's sad that the only really popular 10mm derived cartridge (including the 10mm itself) is the 10mm lite (.40 S&W).
Kind of the opposite of what you'd expect from the American market. Oh well...
