Recently I acquired my granddads old Browning Sweet Sixteen. This gun has been neglected for some decade or two and i was wanting to bring it back from its longtime exile. I never had a chance to meet my granddad and this is one of the ways i connect with him. I have the gun bug just like him. Looking at it I can tell it needs to be reblued and there is some moderate rust. What are my options here if any? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

First, talk some female out of an old set of pantyhose. Use a piece of this with a good oil to remove light rust. 4/0 steel wool will work also but go lightly.
Hold off on rebluing. It's expensive and some guns look good with "Character" marks.
Wood can be done with wax or furniture oil. Linseed oil often is used to finish stocks and a coat or six can work wonders.

Alrighty i have two more questions. Does anyone have the number for Browning? Do they have good customer service? Lastly is there a place to find a manual on how to break this gun down. I believe it to be a A500.
