Inspiried by the thread title "More Fodder for the Antis", imagine Diane Feinslime, or upChuckie Schmer if they saw this place in thier hometown? this is a real store, called the Bottle Stop, in Coolidge, Arizona. His prices are high - I had to stop and look.

Now, what you can't see is the drive through window on the other side...

When I was little, I remember my dad would sometimes stop by the small store in El Cajon, CA which had a sign similar to the Beer, Bait, Guns & Ammunition type ...
CA was a different place in the 50's & early 60's ...

Hiram's Guns and Spirits is still there. They sold the front half (liquor) to a new owner a few years ago, but it's still in operation in the same location and building. I bought a scope there a couple of months ago.

ArmedBear,
Is it located out at the west end of El Cajon Blvd? I think that may be where the store I remember was located, just near or west of the split with Main St ... a few blocks west of the old movie theater. It's been a while, you know. ;)
I drove through the area a few years ago while I was down there for a work training class, looking for some of the apts where we lived and the first house my parents bought. It's staggering how the place has changed. You can never go back ... not really. We lived in Lakeside for a couple of years, too, across from a dairy. The countryside where my dad stabled some horses between Lakeside and El Cajon is all suburbs, now ... and the ranches and stables in Mission Valley seemed long since gone, too. :(
I didn't have time to see much of San Diego, but what I saw of it was disappointing.
Times change.
Thanks BTW,

Alcohol, tobacco, firearms and explosives. Sounds like one stop shopping to me! Actually, I'm not entirely kidding.

I don't see what the big deal is, we have places like that around here. I really don't care if Schumer gets his panties in a wad because of how people live in the rest of free America.

I used to shoot at a full auto range / ice house / bar
The town shut them down because of an obscure 19th century law even though there never any problems.

I hope you broke out in a chorus of Kevin Fowler's Beer, Bait & Ammo when you took that photo. :)

They got everything in between
Yeah they got anything any old beer drinkin
Hell raisin, bona-fied redneck needs
They got your fishin hooks, they got your dirty books
They got your rebel flag on the wall
Sign said beer, bait, and ammo yeah
You ask me they got it all
