Cobray Pocket Pal revolver
2 cylinders 22LR and 380. That's all I can make out from the label. Never heard of the critter.

You're right. The other cylinder is a 3 round .380 cylinder.
I would like to hear if anyone has actually seen or fired one of these? It seems like a neat little gun for collection purposes.
How rare are they?

Is that the one with the plastic "sleeves" over the cartridges?
If so it was featured in one of the History Channel specials (Guns of the future or something like that). One of the guys mentioned that it was an answer to a question no one asked.

Chipperman-
You're thinking of the Dardick pistol that took ammo called 'trounds.'

We had a couple at one of the shops I used to work at.
One of those "Interesting concept, but why?" things.
It held less ammo and took longer to reload than your average pocket revolver, yet was bigger and heavier than a good pocket semi. Also, the trigger durn near took two fingers to pull (I am not kidding).
Definitely one of those things to have if you like collecting examples of old, funky, useless guns, but other than that, I'd steer clear. Quality was iffy (I'm not sure I'd actually shoot .380 through it...), as this gun was made by the same folks who made those cheesy little .45/.410 single-shot derringers, and from the same low-grade metal. They didn't cost much more than $100 brand new, IIRC.
See the raised area at the top rear corner of the gun? That's the rear of the, er, 'locking bar', for lack of a better term. You push down on that, and the front end of it, a "T" shaped bar above the internal cylinder, lifts up (you can kind of make it out in the above photo). The whole front of the gun then can be pivoted forward and down on a hinge that pivots on that lower grip screw. You'd then lift the "cylinder" out of the gun and reload it. The gun came with both .22LR and .380 cylinders; the .22 firing out of the lower barrel, and the .380 out of the upper. Both firing pins fell with every trigger pull (which could not have been good for the .22 one, come to think of it).

Thanks Tamara,
very interesting. I was wondering how it could fire .22 and .380 without changing the barrel.
Any idea when these were made? How many were made?

Justin,
Yeah Dardick is the one I was thinking of.
IIRC, it looked similar to this one. Kinda klunky with an oversized cylinder and short barrel.

gbelleh...apparently It cant fire 380 AND 22 from the same barrel or the same cylinder....If you look closely it is an over/under design....The 380 cylinder will line up with the 380 bore, and the seperate 22 cylinder will line up with the 22 bore...
Just have to pick which cylinder you want before shooting.

Here is the Cobray talk forum:

I did a search and this gun came up in two threads...however no one offered any info about them...But it seems like the topic hasnt come up for a while, so you might want to ask the question again.
You also may want to contact the seller here:

and ask him for some more info about it.

I'd buy one if I saw it for $125 or so...
I've also always wanted one of those 4 barrel 357 Magnum COPs ever since I saw Soldier (horrible movie with Ken Wahl, about '82) but prices on them have been going steadily up the last couple years.
Wouldn't feel too comfortable carrying either of them though.
