Lets assume you are not a law enforcement professional and carrying a handgun is just a personal choice.

When I'm NOT at work, it's 100% of the time. But I voted 75% because of work... 33% of my day 5 days a week, I am unarmed at my desk. Once I get to my truck though...

I'm in the same boat as onslaught, can't carry at work. When I'm not at work I carry all the time but a lot of it is with a Guardian .32 in my pocket.

I can't remember the last time I didn't have a gun either on me or readily available. It was probably last year sometime.

I don't carry (guns) at work; it's both illegal and contrary to policy, and the risk of detection is simply too high.

Everywhere else, I carry.

75%.

I too carry everywhere but at work. I carry to work and home from work or at least have my P97 on the seat next to me. Any other time I am carrying . So I said 75%.

I used to carry ALL THE TIME, then a couple of years ago, I started limiting the time & places I would carry. OVer the last year or so, I'd say I carry about 50% of the time.

Sarge55
April 3, 2003, 05:49 PM
98% of the time. The other 2% is when I'm traveling out of state to a state that prohibits LE officers from out of state to carry.

I don't carry at work, and I don't carry in a bar when I go dancing (I don't care for country all that much, but country dancing is a contact sport!:D ), so I'd call it at about 75-80% of the time.

If I'm awake, I'm carrying. If I'm at work, I'm carrying too. As I see it, my personal safety is my responsibility and it is not something that I'd place into the hands of someone else, especially incompetent 'security personnel'. :)

My :cuss: state won't *permit* me to carry.

However, the great state of Arizona sees me as a responsible law-abiding citizen and has no problem with allowing me to CCW.

When visiting Arizona (and all states that honor their CCW permit) I carry 100% where legal.

I occasionally walk as far as the mail box without packing, but if it's cool enough for a jacket, I'll probably drop a gun in a pocket.

I never get in the car without my cigarettes, a lighter, my wallet, a pocket knife, my keys, a gun, and a speed loader.

My work will allow me to carry, but there are some places they send me that I can't carry, such as military bases, federal facilities and some state locations. When not working, I have a gun on me 75% of the time and almost always have one in my vehicle.

When I was active LEO I got accustomed to carrying 24-7. When I retired I saw no reason to discontinue a very good habit. I feel half dressed when I have to leave my gun because some bureaucrat decided that now that I am no longer a LEO I can't be trusted to carry in places where I always did before. Makes no sense.

I recently recieved my CCW as noted in this thread:
http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=15941&highlight=ccw

I have yet to carry the gun that is listed on it (steyr m9)...Most of the time I am @ school, and concealed carry in government buildings is a no-no....Even outside of school I have not carried the Steyr because it is a bit bulky for this time of year...It is getting hotter and hotter, and the clothes are getting skimpier.

I have recently however bought an Autauga MKII, which fits neatly in a zip around wallet, and slips easily into either my front or back pocket....I will carry this gun pretty regularly once I have it added to my CCW...I have already qualified with it, but I need to turn in my qualification, and have my card re-issued.

Here is a pic of my soon to be (25% of the time) carry gun..

All the time. At least two. One on my belt, one on my ankle. And sometimes, one in a Hedley "Back Pocket" model.

100% except for work with me too. My employer (large company) is pro gun and beleives you should be able to protect yourself going to and from work. They have controled entrances with security so I feel safe while at work. I stop at the guard shack when I drive in, they have very nice padded lock boxes for guns. you lock it and keep the key then pick it up when you leave.

CCWing is like putting on my watch in the morning.
It's 2nd nature and an unconcious thing.
It's 100% as not being able to CCW at work or in the Post Office, etc.
is relative as we don't have any personal control over those
restrictions parts of our Society places {forces} on us.

TheOtherOne
April 5, 2003, 05:17 PM
workplace is specifically prohibited, as are parks, playgrounds, schoolgrounds, churches, gov't bldgs, sporting events, bars, restaurants, any place where more than 500 people are gathered (who counts? Why?) any place posted as off limits etc etc etc etc etc etc etc.

Dang! What's the point of CCW with all those restrictions. I can see some place like California coming up with CCW finally and then adding, "Oh, everywhere is off-limits except your house and your grandmas house if she says it's okay".

It goes everywhere my pants go!

I'm a creature of habit. It goes on when I get dressed and goes next to the bed when I get undressed. It goes anywhere there isn't a metal detector.

When I get dressed before I walk out the room I check wallet, keys, knife, gun and ocassionaly forget my watch.

I carried a lighter for almost a year after I quit smoking.
Habbits are just hard to break.

Carrying at work isn't a problem since I work either for my Dad or my Uncle. Vietnam era vet's tend to look at things much more rationally. :D

Though...even when I worked for the University and it was strictly forbiden I did anyway. My view was this the only way they will know I have is if I need it. In that case that job doesn't mean all that much then does it?

50% of the time.

That is when im back stateside.

Back at home in Arizona I cant carry at work since Im on base.

But rest assured that whenever I leave base for any reason Im armed.

So in reality I carry 100% of the time when I leave base. Whenever I leave the house the sidearm is with me just not on me.

But since Im here I cant carry anything. But thats all about to change in 51 days. Woo Hoo.
