 I am looking at buying a 16" Carbine and can't decide which one to buy?
I would really appreciate the opinion of any one that has both brands.:uhoh:
Thanks

Either. Rock River has a better trigger. Bushmaster has slightly better steel and chrome lined barrels come stock on all but the varmint guns. Toss up really.
I am a Bushmaster fan. I have three flawless ones. Well two and a lower with a DPMS .22LR upper on it.

I have a RRA middy I am happy with.
It hasn't been flawless though. My gun chokes on some ammo my buddies Bushy eats all day. (RadwayGreen SS-109 mil surp)
+1 on the RRA trigger being better.
You have to order a chrome lined barrel/chamber if you want it on the RRA. It comes standerd on the Bushmaster.

My Bushmasters have been flawless with the exception of some extremely poor reloads that did not have the bullet crimped properly. To give you an idea the bullet would tear from the cartridge in a bolt gun. That ammo was disposed of. All real ammo works flawlessly.
I only use GI magazines including the British SA80 mags that came about some years ago.

I'd go with the Rock River. I think their overall quality is better and I think they usually come in a few $$$ cheaper.
I have never seen a new RRA with any problems. That being said, that doesn't mean there aren't any. Both companies make good stuff. I did get a Bushmaster once that had the purpleish finish. Wasn't too impressed with that. I think the lockup on the RRA are a little tighter (the Bushmasters are not lose by any means). Whatever you do, don't get a Carbon 15.
My vote is for the Rock River.

I've got a flawless bushie dissipator, and I tend to go with what I know works.
That being said, I'm hearing good things about RR.

I can't comment directly on the carbine, but I love my RRA. It has a nice, crisp trigger, it feels solid and well-made, and it has digested everything I've fed it so far.
While it's only a few months old and hasn't had more than a few hundred rounds through it, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another RRA product.
Good luck,

6 of one half a dozen of the other! Both great guns, my AR's are made by Bushmaster except for the one lonely old Colt AR I bought for nostalgia a long time ago.

The match grade trigger on the RR is sweet. I have shot three friends RR - a 20" and two 16"-M4 style. The 16's shot great with zero hiccups all day. The 20" was brand new and VERY tight. It was very accurate but did occasionaly jam. This was due to the tight tolerances.
I have a Bushmaster upper and bolt on one of my AR's and have had no problems.
You can't go wrong with either one in my opinion.

I've got a couple Rock River's, and I like them very much. My friend has a Bushmaster and likes it very much. :) I'd go with whatever saves you the most money.

Rock River is a little tighter, Bushmaster is my preference if I have the dough ...
TIFWIW-I lean towards Bushmaster....Resale Value(not that I would ever part with mine:) )

I have no experience with RR, but I have to give Bushmaster a thumbs down. Not for the quality of their weapons, but their service. I recently purchased an A3 flat top in .308, just before they stopped making them. When I called about support and parts, they basically thumbed their nose at me. Their attitude was that I bought the gun, it's mine now, and they could care less about helping me with anything. They were curt, bordering rude, on the telephone.

Why don't you post your story at the Industry Forum (http://www.ar15.com/forums/forum.html?b=2&f=28) at AR15.com.
The moderator is a Bushmaster service rep and can help you out.

Whatever you do, don't get a Carbon 15. BigPhil, can you offer a bit more about why?
(I'm not really in the market for one of these right now, as tempting as they look, but just curious about the technology...)

The Carbon 15 is not really a Bushmaster. They bought the design some years ago and actually did make it much better then it was. It is still not what I would call a stellar arm though. Lots of malfunctions in my limited experience.
Surprised to hear about the Bushmaster customer service. Very sorry to hear that. I have been very favorably impressed with all my dealings with them although very limited and never with probems on my end.

I like Bushmaster better, primarily because of the 4150, chrome-lined barrels. I also have a 16" RRA upper, and while I like the midlength configuration, I don't think the fit & finish is as good as the Bushy uppers I have.

Both make a good gun. Buy either you can get your hands on that has the specific features you want. Quality wise it's a tossup IMO.
