Every time I hear "Elite" Republican Guard, I could puke.

I never hear "Elite" Navy Seals

"Elite" Delta Force

"Elite" Army Rangers

From what I've seen on Fox News, my grandma could kick their butt and she's dead

I think any of our 10 best could take on 50 of theirs. OK...make it fair and give them 100

Don't get your panties in a bunch, it was how the military described them to the media so that's how they report on them.

Don't worry about it, the best the current regime has been able to do is play the media. :scrutiny: That isn't going to last much longer.

"I never hear "Elite" Navy Seals

"Elite" Delta Force

"Elite" Army Rangers"

The reason you "never" hear this is that it is redundant.

We know they are elite.

They know they are elite.

And the people they fight find it out REAL fast.

elite to them means they can wipe w/o getting crap up to the elbow and that they havent shot off more than 2 fingers.

What about the so called "Special Republican Guard"??! :scrutiny:

When you hear someone like Jim Miklaszewski, NBC's Pentagon correspondent, say these words ( in that voice that sounds like he just ran a 26 mile marathon)...

"The Elite Republican Guard." or "The Special Republican Guard". *cough,cough.. pant, pant*

It makes me want to puke. :barf:

Moving this to Legal & Political, which is the proper forum for non gun-related war threads.

I mean, the question actors most often get asked is how they can bear saying the same things over and over again, night after night, but God knows the answer to that is, don't we all anyway; might as well get paid for it. -- Elaine Dundy

I think the Republican Guard is "elite"...

After all, it takes a special group of soldiers to fight a war so incompetently (unless, of course, you count the French)...:D

IIRC, there are two types of Republican Guards -- the "regular" and the "elite." Thus the distinction is valid.

1) Elite Republican Guard -- Saddam's trusted guards.
2) Regular Republican Guard -- professional soldiers, but not trusted enough to guard Saddam.
3) Regular army -- conscripts and such.
4) Fedayen -- militia.

Am I wrong?

Of course the "elite" refers more to their proximity to Saddam rather than their fighting ability.

I think the Republican Guard is doing so poorly that they changed it to the Democratic Guard.
