Will mounts designed for a Picatinny rail mount on a Weaver rail and vice versa?

What if there is any, difference between them?

It appears to me (without actually knowing the specs) that the 'groove' in the Picatinny rail is wider fore-n-aft than is the Weaver rail. This means that Picatinny mounts will not fit onto the Weaver rail, but that Weaver mounts will work on (if not be perfectly suited for) a Picatinny rail.

Am looking for a mount for a Saiga w/ a left side receiver mount but the ones I see are for weaver and most attachments for flashlights for example are picatinny.

Weaver mounts will work on a picatinny rail for sure. I jusy used that set up on my Savage 10.
