...how to set up my seating/crimping die. I have the RCBS 2000 progressive press and RCBS 3pc carbide dies for .45ACP.

The manual kinda falls apart on that die, no pics or anything.

What it says to do is run a case thru the whole process (priming, sizing, etc) to that point. Then run the press to the top of its stroke. Screw the die in till you feel the case, back off 1 full turn.

OK, once I've done this the bullet seating plugamajig (2 part die) won't even touch the bullet when its screwed all the way down. I have to lower the whole die which is contrary to the instructions which just had me lock it in place ;g .

If anyone can shed some light here or knows of a detailed die setup resource on the infernalnet that'd be great.

On a related note, when I size and expand my cases they end up with ripples like some overpressure nightmare. Is this normal?

Thanks alot fells...

No this is not normal, my guess is that these ripples are holding up the die, so then you cannot screw it down far enough.
No idea what is causing the ripples.

Try adjusting the die with only sized brass, not expanded, this should give you a truer fit. you could be over belling the brass.

If your cases are coming out of the expander die with ripples, stop, find, and correct the problem before going on to the bullet seating die. Something is wrong. Check out http://stevespages.com
Some very good information there.

You may be over expanding them, do they look like a spitoon,?

Only expand them just enough to allow the bullet to sit upright on top, very slight flare. The ripples may be caused by having the expanding die screwed in too far.

Usually the box of dies has the die adjustment instructions.

I got it all straight. I WAS overexpanding them, pretty horribly.

Took awhile to get the OAL and the finished crimp diameter set, but I just cranked out about 50rnds that seem to meet spec and dry feed in my beater .45.

I'll shoot 'em up in the next coupla days and see how it goes...

Thanks for the help :)
