Ted Turner: Bush Might Launch Nukes

Former CNN honcho Ted Turner is warning that President Bush is so crazy that he's liable to start a nuclear war.

While urging unilateral nuclear disarmament to a Kansas State University audience on Monday, Turner declared:

"You have to question ... the president on a lot of decisions he's made. He might just think launching those weapons would be a good thing to do. ... He thought Iraq was."

In quotes picked up by the Associated Press, Turner warned that the U.S. and Russia still have thousands of nukes pointed at each other, which could be launched on a "hair trigger" basis. He said if he were in charge "we'd be rid of them."

The CNN founder argued that war is an outdated form of diplomacy that has stopped working.

"You would think that we would have learned that in Vietnam," he lamented.
Turner also complained that Iraq is "no better off" since the U.S. toppled Saddam Hussein and liberated the country.

Ted turner is a fool. Being a Billionaire does not give him special powers to make war obsolete.

This Turner stooge has been braindead since he married Hanoi Jane; a waste of newsprint!

Isn't Ted Turner currently dating Cindy Sheehan?

Isn't Ted Turner currently dating Cindy Sheehan?

C'mon. He may have questionable taste in politics, but he married Barbarella.

Soooooo marrying Hanoi Jane was a good idea. This is from someone who has to take serious drugs to live in his own little world. It's them Nukes that give him the freedom to spill this garbage.

Naah, life is too short to spend any time with Jane Fonda. And she don't look like Barbarella no more. I was just pointing out that she was better-looking than Cindy Sheehan.

And the connection to gun ownership would be what?

This is good. back in the 80s, Reagan was seen as a crazy cowboy who might do anything. The Soviets feared him and spent themselves out of existence. Let today's enemies (including ted Turner and the rest of his UN chums) fear W.

Does having that much money make people crazy? Bush won't launch nukes, there is no profit motive in it for Haliburton.

Does that mean that the purpose then is to beat up Ted Turner? Are guns the topic or the excuse? What constructive outcome should be expected?

A nuke is the biggest gun there is. As aficionados, we should all know that. :)

Being on the west coast, I'm more concerned about N Korea launching nukes.

We would be in deep doo doo if we had a President that was not willing to launch nukes under certain circumstances.
Ted and jimmy carter need to get together and share hugs. Yeah, we would be just fine if we unilaterally disarmed, with every potential threat arming with nukes. Even a dinky country like Iran would be able to dictate to us.

Ted is a "sayer", but Bush is a "Doer".

Ted says stupid things. Bush doesn't stop with just saying stupid things, he actually puts stupid things into action.

Ted also thinks that gun owners are ticking bombs, set to slaughter their neighbors.

don't the elipses signify that something was taken out? Perhaps it isn't that bad :)

Sometimes the only alternative to war is surrender.

Maybe that is what Ted is thinking.
