Anyone know about Taurus copper bullets?

I just saw an ad in American Hunter for new "Hex" cartridges made in .45 acp for the Taurus wheelgun. Does anyone know if they would work in an auto? What are the advantages/disadvantages of a 99% copper bullet?

Read some reviews and wanted to know what people thought of it... I'm looking into using it as my defensive ammo for my P99 .40S&W

Yeah! This stuff is AWESOME! You can shoot someone with it, and they wont get LEAD POISONING!!!!!

Momentum = mass x velocity squared

I think that's kinetic energy, SW; momentum's just mass x velocity. But I'm no physicist.
PS--and your point?

I'd wait a while. Let someone else be the guinea pig. FWIW, Gold Dots work just fine and are tested.

If I had some land in the country it would be great to not foul the land with lead. But at MSRP of $19.95 for a box of 20 .45's they can bite me! I'd mine, smelt, and load my own before I paid that much. :D

If they can do this with copper, they can do it with silver. Who wants to write the script for "The World's Shortest Werewolf Movie"?

OK, they expand and penetrate well... from what range? I can't find that info on the page posted. I've gotta believe the loss of density would have some effect on ballistics. 185 grains of copper would be larger than 185 grains of lead.

185 grains of copper would be larger than 185 grains of lead.
But the cross-sectional area is fixed by the bore diameter, so the projectile would be larger only in length, which wouldn't affect sectional density.

Hmmmmm, if they're longer wouldn't that give more room for expansion and thus bigger holes?

kenitic energy - e=1/2 m x v2
momentum - p=m x v
not that it matters:rolleyes:
