Well from what I read I think this scope will go on my soon to own Rem 700P. For the ones that own one or know of any who owns one please let me know if you would make a different choice in scope selection. I'm not too experienced at long range shooting (300 or over), but obviously am planning to get there. Is it too much scope or will I take a while to grow into it. thx for your comments as always... oh, planning to just shoot at the range and eventually enter matches...

Excellent choice!

I have a 8.5x25 VX3 on my .223 and .308 and shoot at 300 with them.

People will now give you cheaper alternatives, but you'll be disappointed. You have a nice gun, put a nice scope on it.

mrrev,

I've got the earlier Leupold 6.5-20x50LR M1 model (same basic scope), and use it for shooting at 1,000 yards. Fine scope for LR shooting.

I am not associated with this outfit. I am simply referring folks to the website because they can save a pile of money on scopes. I got my 4.5x14x50 VX-3 with the Boone and Crocket reticle last year for $549. www.bullseyesupplies.com. Ken

I don't think you need much over 10x unless you are shooting beyond 500+yds. Generally using as little magnification as possible is best.

That said I adore my 5.5-22x56mm Nightforce :) Reisist the temptation to crank your Mk4 all the way up inside 1000yds and you should do great. It's a fine optic.
